It's okay if you have six 8mg pills we can do this. Take the same amount this evening as you normally take. Repeat your morning dose as usual and then let me know in the morning after that first dose how you feel. Unless of course you have a problem tonight which I can't imagine. I bet you feel better now. What is the Thomas recipe and were can I find it? Please help!!!

Just take the subutex tomorrow the same dose you were at on the suboxone for the next couple days. The Thomas Recipe is a method used by lots of people here to cold turkey detox from opiates. You wouldn't use it with the subutex. Talk tomorrow. God bless.

Ok Robert I just took my pill under my tongue as I write ...boy I forgot how nasty these are thats alright .They do not cut easy when you try to cut a half in half..

That is how I was to cut correct ?

I would love a day to not be nausea's ....I feel sorry for people who have taken these for years . I wasn't on near that long . What happens after I run out Subutex ?Since we know doctor wanted me to stay on Suboxone and I had to pull tooth and nail to get them.

If you start doing really well on these vs the others then I think you have a good defense for asking for more of this medication. Just do it exactly as you're supposed to and I think it will all work out. The dr should agree if there is a lot of difference for you. God bless.

That is great news! I knew the subutex would change things for you. I've been doing this for a while now. Thanks for the kind words. I have fun doing this when I see someone turn around like you're doing right this minute. That makes me happy!

I wish that some drs would listen better, it's like they feel threatened or something to take a suggestion from someone who didn't go to school quite as long as they did. It should not be that way and doesn't have to be.

I promise you that the dr who originally gave me subs when I used them talks to me every so often. I've actually had him on this forum and he's read posts here. He doesn't feel threatened asking me my feelings although he does get on me a little occasionally for giving drs a hard time. Seriously we've become friends and he asks lots of questions as he knows I used for 35 years and I am a good case study for him. He is the chief dr at the biggest rehab hospital in Houston yet he isn't too good to ask a question. I think that is very cool for a dr. He uses pretty much the same process that we suggest here when he is able. I've talked to him a lot about the taper process and how to stop using subs properly. There are good drs out there who are sincere and doing a good job.

I don't think you will need to be at 12mg for long. I almost suggested a little less immediately but I want you to give your body a break ... let it recover from feeling so badly today at least and then drop to 10mg tomorrow. If you are taking even a little less medication than what he suggested and you're doing lots better after these three days (which you will be) then I don't see how he can refuse you. Tell him you'll even sign a waiver for him that you're doing this against his advice if that will make him feel better. I think you'll have all the ammunition and proof for this that you'll need. Just stay positive and focus on doing this right. Things will work out I'm sure. God bless.

Robert you should feel very proud of yourself .You have helped so many people and never judge them .

Boy, I wish I could find a doctor like you did they do not make those anymore.You are one of the lucky ones.

The thing I find funny is that half these doctors really don't know what they are doing .I agree there are a few good ones . The rest have no problems giving you pills ,hook you and then throw you into w/d. Then it's sorry your on your own deal with it. Like I said before maybe they should go thru a w/d. They are the ones who contribute to our addictions. I actually was honest with my PM and Shrink after my detox 1 1/2 yrs ago what a laugh....now I'm labeled an addict even though I took my meds. as perscribed .

Prior to detox I was hooked on morphine. Ok, part my fault I didn't have to take them or the other pain meds that got me on morphine, but when you are in pain you do not thing right ....along with the other drugs I was prescribed which I mentioned in earlier post.

I was really out of it according to my family and never knew it ...I would forget if I took my pills and take another it's a miracle I'm still alive .I was told half the time I forgot what I was saying , interrupting , slurring and at times not making since . I thought I was fine...I drove felt normal but guess I wasn't . I'm not a very big person so that doesn't help .

All I can say is GOD was watching over me. I also believe he lead me to you !!!!

I feel so much better I was even able to get off the sofa ....washed my hair felt great lol. Owe all to my favorite new friend Robert!!!!

So tomorrow I drop to 10mg that would be 1/2 and 1/8 of a pill. That should be fun to cut...those little suckers are not easy to cut. I'm tring to get a appointment and maybe take my husband. Right now I have to wait three weeks which scares me going back on Suboxone if he won't call it prior to my appointment. I will do what you said about waiver etc.

Thanks for the nice things you said ... I appreciate that. I am very happy that things are turning around for you. Let's stay focused on you doing better every day and things will hopefully work out at the dr in your favor.

It's pretty obvious if you've talked with me a few times that I KNOW for sure I would be dead if God were not watching over me as well. I blew it so badly so many times that I know exactly how you feel. And I'm sure we are both correct. I also believe and have faith that this will all work out for you too as HE is still wanting you to be successful and to have a life. Hang in there.

Regarding your dose tomorrow. Make this as simple as you can. I would take 6mg in the morning and take 4mg in the late afternoon/early evening. It's not such an exact science that you would hurt anything doing that plus it's SO much easier to cut the pill up like that. I think I have told you before to use a single-edged razor. This will all work out. God bless.

Robert I had internet issue's up and running now . Just to let you know I'm doing great not sick at all. I took my 6mg this morning . So tonight I taper to 4mg ? I can't wait getting closer to the end . Still a long way to go but every little bit counts. What do I take in the morning?

I tried calling docror several times nothing...He is a total ***.Will keep trying.

I'm still confused on posting do I always come to my thread and click on last or is there an easier way ? This probably sounds stupid I know.

If you click on quote under any post you want to reply to it will come up like this one. That is what I've done here. You want to stay on your thread when we are talking about you as it gives me notes from the other posts here to refer back to. Otherwise I could never remember everyone's history.

Don't aggravate the dr or he'll blow you off. Give it through the weekend as you've got plenty of subutex till Monday. That is what I would do at least, or try to get another appointment for Monday so he can see how you're doing. I'm sure he'll charge you but it will be worth it.

You got six 8mg pills from the dr, so the main thing is to be able to show him how well you've done so you'll get more subutex to replace the suboxone. I don't want you to be TOO aggressive here. He thinks you're on 16mg per day so you're already doing lots better than he thinks you are. Stay on the 10mg again today, we'll decide tonite about tomorrow. You'll probably do best staying at the same dose another day would be my guess right now. God bless.

When I was doing my withdrawl I pretty much stayed on my thred or lilbri's thread...We did w/d together...
But if you ask questions its easer for us to see what's going on if your on your thread.but you can post anywhere....like if you trying to help someone else or your just talking to someone...there are no rules...

Robert I have been doing so much better on the Subutex . I have more energy now since I'm not so nausea's.

Since I started my w/d on Subutex I have noticed that my mood has changed . Was this all caused by the pain meds? I'm not having major mood changes like I was...my poor husband actually dreaded coming home . He never new what he was walking into. He has been so patient and supportive with me . I so lucky to have him he has been thru hell and back with me.

Ok ,I have taked 10 mg today and all is well . What dose should I take tomorrow morning.

So are the other pain meds I was taking out of my system yet ?

Take 10mg again tomorrow and then I want you to go to 8mg on Sunday. I would like to see you at half the 16mg dose this guy told you to be on Monday so you can put in a call to his office. I would say you should be able to leave a message with the nurse and see if you can get in as this is an emergency. You will be out of the medication that is obviously working.

Your mood should be better on the subutex than the suboxone if it's working right. You should feel really good. The dr should NOT be able to argue much with that if you guys stand your ground. Your husband should be able to back up what you're saying too. God bless.

Alright Robert I will drop down on Sunday to 8mg.

I called the office today and was told to call tomorrow for cancelations and if not call Monday . The only bad part of Monday he is in meetings and might not be able to come and I really need him with me so he can tell the doctor whats been going on.

Should I tell the doctor that I tapered my doses or just act like I'm on his dose?

I would tell the dr the truth. You have nothing to hide at this point. Tell him EXACTLY what has happened and why you need the subutex. He surely can't argue with the facts if you hold your ground. We will talk about what to say before you go. Just relax about all this for now. I always have faith and things seem to work out. God bless.

Well I tapered yesterday to 10mg was great all day . I had pains down my legs all night I also get them thru the day ....I have had them all along some days are worse than others. I'm hoping it just part of w/d .

Today has been rough woke up with another pounding headache ( I do get headaches on and off then they go away) not this one . Great the nausea is back . I fell like ******** oh and my legs ache .

I took 6mg this morning still feel miserable ....I'm going to lay down and pray this passes.

I HATE DRUGS!!!!!

You really need something to help with these headaches! They alone will make you sick if they're bad enough. I hate that they continue to bother you so much. What can you take for them? Can you obtain some medication for the headache? I've said before often on the forum that Zomig always knocked out the WORST headaches I ever had. Might be worth checking into for you.

Let's NOT plan on reducing any dose tomorrow if you're having a tough day today. This isn't a contest to see how low of a dose you can be at. Let me know later today how you're doing and we'll act accordingly. God bless.

I remember these headaches very clear coming off of OXY, and since i've now been on SUBOXONE now for 5days, i'm feeling like my life is coming back to me...it's nice that we can all support eachother.

I started to feel better after I took some Tynenol ( that was ok I hope) which helped....I'm good now just have backache and legs ache... Maybe I did to much with all that energy I had the last few days. lol. I think the headache was what kicked my butt which made me nausea's. I suffer from headache alot.

I have some Balofen 10mg for pain is it ok to take them for headache's?

Alrighty back to my taper would it be ok to go to 8mg if I'm good the rest of the day ? I was so excited to get to 8mg.

Robert has been great ....it is nice to hear from you again I hear all good things about you.

I'm remembering the headaches again ....being on drugs they sort of go away and when they came I'd take a pill . Well know more I want to be clean . It's great to have all this support .

Robert has been doing my taper . I started on Subutex then went on Suboxone 16mg but had to switch back to subutex ...I'm down to 10mg . I been on the subs for little over a month . I noticed my mood has changed a lot .

I still have one more battle to fight after the sub's...which is the Klonopin and I hear it a rough one.

Pam ..... I think you are probably talking about Baclofen? It's a muscle relaxer, also used for muscle spasms for people with MS.

Baclofen could help some for your legs and back ache. It shouldn't hurt you if you, just don't get carried away. I don't know that it would stop the headache, I don't know of it being used for that off-label purpose. Not saying it's impossible, just that I don't know about using it for that. It's not anything that should have a severe adverse effect with the subs.

I just checked baclofen in search box at the top of this page. It seems that there is sometimes a side effect (though uncommon) of headaches. Doesn't say it's a regular thing, but it does happen sometime. You should read the information for yourself too so you'll know what it says.

One other thing I do have to caution you on is that you do take several medications. I know there is a "moderate" potential interaction between the baclofen and buprenorphine from the subs as well as with the klonopin, requip and neurontin. So all of these meds mixed together do pose some interaction potential for CNS/respiratory depression. The baclofen would add one more med to the list.

I know that you're aware of potential interactions and that is why you're planning on going after the klonopin next. But I would be remiss in my responsibility to you if I failed to mention the interaction potential before saying anyting about taking other meds.

I always try to point out the potential negatives about taking anything as I'm not a dr. I don't think the baclofen would hurt you if you are conservative. If it doesn't help soon I wouldn't add to the dose hoping more would stop a headache when that could be a potential side effect itself. God bless.

I just asked Robert about you dropping on the subs and he said he doesn't want you to drop to fast he said wait till tonight and well see how you feel.

I will never forget getting off all of my pills I think it took me a year to get there..I found this place when I was down to two 5mg vic's...and that's when Robert helped me...but oh it was hard..The first time i quit my oxycontin...I think I made it two weeks i did it cold turkey and I quit my klonopin at the same time......OMG I was so sick...LOL...I had a 2 month long panic attack....If I would have known about this place I would not have had such a hard time...

Your doing great...I really do know how hard this is...
