| | Hi Pam -
Friggin headaches!!!!! Just what you didn't need right now. It sounds like it is finally getting better, but sounds you have the left over residual soreness at the base of your head/neck. I used to get migraines (enter Norco) and after one would go away I was left with a soreness in that area, sounds much the same. Fortunately I don't have them at all any more.
Your getting there kid....(I say kid, I think you, Melinda, Linda and I think Freedom are all about the same age.....Instant wisdom and common sense must set in at our age (i.e., getting clean....) I just never wanted to be a 78 yaer old addict and the years were clipping by...hehehehe.
Keep up the good work... I can't believe how determined you are!!!! I know this is when it gets hard just from keeping track of everyone at this stage.
The auto immune studies they did were all negative......thus the consensus seems to be an acute flare of fibromalgia.....ugh. There are days when I am so tired and hurt so much and get really frustrated, then I will have days when I think I'm okay. Yes still stuck at 4mg. I just don't feel like I have the mental fortitude right now to continue, EXCEPT i was thinking that there is a good liklehood that I could get down further before withdrawal starts, maybe I could get down to 2mg at least before having to deal with w/d. So I think what I will do is set a goal of getting down to 2mg.
Sorry I haven't written in a couple days, had a cortisone injection in my thumb, OMG, I thought it was going to be no big deal, for two days the acute pain was worse than anything I can remember having done; throbbing, felt like a knife was stabbing my wristl. Finally better today. I didn't want to complain on your site, 'cause that is reserved for you at this point!
Melinda and I shared pictures via email. I would so nice to put a face to the names....would you be interested in doing that? Just let me know if you are.
Well, it's thundering a lightening and my lights are flickering so will sign off for now.
Take care, your doing great!
Hugs,
mags

PS-LINDA I'M GOING TO SEND YOU AN EMAIL, HAVEN'T TALKED TO YOU FOREVER. | I am sorry you are having all this go on-I keep reading your posts hoping it will get better for you. I think you have a great idea about getting down to 2mg. I know how frustrated you are at 4 so some movement downward would be a good psychological boost. Sure, e-mail me and let me know all that is happening. Thinking of you |

Yep on both questions. Yes some people need a sliver during the four day skip and yes take .25mg tomorrow. Then it will be the four days.
This is it Pam! You finish the four days and you should be okay. You're NOT a loser if you need a sliver but don't do it unless you really need it. I'm sure you'll do fine. God bless.

God bless. | Hi Robert....Thank God I made it past day three of the skip ...I even slept good...Ok here'e another dumb question so the last sliver after day 4 is needed for what reason....I just want to totally understand the process of stopping Sub's at the last part....
Ok this may sound real stupid but I get the half life being 24-72 hrs and having symtoms....what happens during the other half of the drugs life ...
Sorry for all the questions just me making sure I understand...
Thanks you so much for being so patient with me...
God Bless

Pam quit worrying about slivers. You aren't even where you need a sliver. We just misunderstood each other about the slivers.
When I said some people need a sliver during the four day skip, I didn't mean AFTER the four day skip was over. Once you get PAST the four days you shouldn't need a sliver anymore.
You're almost done with this. Don't worry about slivers. Don't worry about taking anything. Just focus on getting through the four days. Talk to me as you go forward. God bless.

Just wanted to understand how the rest of it's half life works never really understood it totally once you past the first part....I get the first half just thought there was more to the other half if there is even one ....Sorry I was just curious since I never really understood it...
I will keep in touch....
Thank you and God Bless

| | half life Pam .... I don't mind explaining the half life. It's easy to see why the w/d symptoms last so long when you understand the half life.
Buprenorphine half life can be from 36-72 hours or thereabouts. It can vary based on your metabolism, physical body make up, all kinds of things so it changes a little from one person to the next. But the 36-72 hours is accurate and that's why some people can reduce their dose every three days like you did for a while. But other people need a week or so between reductions. That's determined by the half life for that person.
Say the half life is 48 hours for you, then after 48 hours half the drug is out of your system. Then in another 48 hours half the remaining drug is gone, in another 48 hours another half is gone again and so on. It will eventually go down to zero as long as you don't take more. A sliver puts that .25mg back into your system for the whole half life process again. That's why I say take a sliver only if you need it.
When you figure in using subs for a long time you've got lots of subs accumulating on top of each other. It becomes impossible to tell exactly how long a person will be affected. But you've been on a small dose for a good while. That's why I always suggest the day skipping at the end. You won't have a lot of buprenorphine built up in your system as you've been tapering off a really low dose and then skipping days. It will work out just fine for you.
I will be surprised if you need anymore slivers at all. I personally think you are already done Pam. I think that you're done and you don't realize it yet. I bet your waiting to see if you make it and you won't have any problems to amount to anything. So I will be the first to congratulate you on being clean from opiates! You're clean date starts after your last day of subs. God bless.

| | I wish that I could be a mouse in the corner of the room when you tell the dr you're done with subutex. I would like to see to see his immediate reaction.
You've done good Pam. Rest for a bit when you finish the subs. Then we'll start on the klonopin. It won't be all that bad doing it slowly. You know that I don't like w/d pain of any kind. We're too old for that. I prefer doing it the painfree way if possible. God bless.

| | Robert Robert...I just wanted you to know that I finally got a script for the Zomig ...just thought I'd let you know so hopefully that will work in the future for my headaches....didn't sleep to good last night but at least I was able to get back to sleep after 3 hours...sorta wierd it was like I woke up and my brain wouldn't shut down ...not to worried since I had sleep problems even on pills unless I took enough so i guess my body needs to relearn to act without opiates....
Thank's and God Bless

| | Yeah pam !!!!! Hey, You did it, I knew that you would cuz you made up your mind -and Robert, Melinda, Mags etc... I am so proud of you and happy for you also. I loved taking that last .25, just seemed endless for some reason. Getting off of it reminds me of that story The Tortise and the Hare, where Rabbit loses because he runs so fast, gets tired, takes a nap and the Tortise keeps on going-plodding along -putting one foot in front of the other with his eyes fixed on the finish line. See, your just like the tortise -how's that for a compliment? Linda

However it doesn't help at all I took 3 last night and only slept 4 hrs I hate waking up at 2 and 3am it really sucks....so when I go back to see the doctor I just want to make sure I get what I need also plan to give him that site....It seems to have a ton of info I never new...

If your dr will give you diazepam (valium) instead of the klonopin that would be good. Klonopin half life is second longest behind valium. Don't make a big deal out of it though if he is argumentative.
Most drs don't know anything about the Ashton method for benzo detox. They will usually say to stop by dropping like 1mg every week or so. They usually do it entirely too fast trying to get you off over a month or two at the longest.
Benzo detox like an opiate detox in that we'll have to see how you do with reductions as we go along so we can make a plan that fits you. Get the valium if you can, if not we can do it with the klonopin.
I agree with you that unless the benzo dose is adjusted according to your level of tolerance you will go into w/d even doing as the dr orders. So the first thing we will do is get you stable on whatever dose it takes. Then we'll work our way down slowly.
Make sure your dr understands how we're doing your taper so he doesn't cause any problems for you getting the amount of klonopin or valium that you need. You may need a little extra right at first but then your dose will go down. I'm not sure you'll need more, just saying it's a possibility.
You'll do fine. I think you should get a week or so behind you off the subutex before we start the benzos. Get yourself a little rest for a few days and I'll be ready when you are. God bless.

God bless. | Robert....I actually printed the Ashton method and plan to in go in loaded with info... and yes I will give him all the info to read ....who knows maybe he will .I think if he knows I'm serious as I was with opiates and show him all the info along with asking him to please trust me and I need him to work with me ....Hopefully he will give me what I need....I will tell him I did the slow taper before from Klonopin and it did not work....so which me luck and say a prayer for me....How many mg do I need of the Valium will I need.
Well if he doesn't listen I tell him that I will find another doctor that will listen and help me.....this is my body and life and you can not put me on the same plan that is a standard plan ....we are all different.
I still have problems sleeping wish really sucks....but at least I'm done with the subs....I totally agree about giving my body a break for a week or so...
Thank you and God Bless
