Default Streptococcal group a help me pls

my dad went to the hospital because his feet was swollen and he couldn't walk because they were hurting him. once he got to the hospital his feet legs were red and they did so many tests and finally they told me he has Streptococcal group a. from his feet up to his waist is red and infected. now they had to put a breathing tube and a food tube down his throat. today they had to give him some blood b/c his blood count or red blood cells were low. they changed antibiotics from penicillin to megamiacin and 2 other ones b/c it wasn't helping. he isn't a diabetic and he was on methadone, drinking alcohol, and xanaxs.
today will be 1 week and i am scared and i don't know much about this infection and i don't want to lose my daddy. does anybody know if this is common or will i need to prepare myself for the worse?

What is the ind=fection from? My 2 year old daughter has had mrsa and strept infections in her blood since last september and I have taking her to all kinds of specialists and we havent yet cured her completly, did they tell you it was a strept infection in the blood? what are the drs and nurses telling you? I think if they thought it was that bad then they would be preparing you there, but ti sounds to me if he isnt in intensive care then thingsa may not be too serious, I dont know your situation though so I cant be of too much help until I know what the drs and nurses are telling you, you did make them aware of all the meds he was taking and abusing correct? If he was taking more than prescribed and you too feel he has a problem, then if the nurses and drs dont know I would certainly bring it to their attention no matter how mad you father would get if it were in fact something he was trying to hide, I dont know sweetie, I wish that I could be of more help to you but I need to know more about his condition, and just remember just becsue his cbc was off doesnt necesarilly mean anything too bad, my daughters was at a 24 when it should hav bee naround a 7, and she was on antibiotic iv drip and being monitored by an infectious disease dr so you know it could be serious, I will pray for you and he that it isnt, and it could be something not that bad at all, but you will be in my prayers and if you ever need to talk I am here, I lost my stepfather about 4 years ago, I know how hard it is to be staring death in the face, I know there is a certain part of your heart that is crushed and you feel like there is something you wish you could have done to prevented this, well I want you to know that this isnt your fault and I do in fact know what your going through, hek my real dad dies on the table 2 years back on fathers day and they had to jump him with the paddles to bring him back, he hasnt even turned 42 years old yet and I fear with his bad heart that I could lose him on short hand notice, I know its a tough burden but you just stick by his side and you let him know how much you love him, and put your faith in god and just keep praying, hes there to listen to what you have to say...you will be in my prayers, keep in toch sweetie, and God Bless You and your Father..
