thanks for pulling this up...How are you doing...thanks for your prayers they where much needed...
so where are you at on the sub taper.Robert and I have been so busy with him being in Houston moving out of his condo and then getting back and me going in for surgery the next day....things are getting back to normal for us now tho...
how is your mom doing ???

Hi Barb...I'm sorry I have not been back in awhile ...I have been praying for you ...so what sub dose are you on now??? Sounds like you have hit a few rough spots here and there...it will be OK just stay strong when this is over you will feel so great .
I finally finished my taper June 21 and have been Opiate Free now for 6 weeks as of tomorrow and have no desire for any opiates first time in over 25 yrs....I never want to go thru this ever again.
I actually started to read my post from the subs wow I actually couldn't believe all I had wrote...I to got depressed and did my share of crying ...it's just we want this to be over but we have to be patient which is not an easy thing on the sub taper..
Well now I have started to work with Robert on my benzo taper which I here is worse than the sub,meth etc... w/d lucky me totally not looking forward to tapering from another drug but when I'm done I will be drug free for the first time in over 25 yrs. which will be great to actually feel and think straight again.
You stay strong and think positive and you will make it... I will continue to pray for you ..

very good to hear from you.....i woke up feeling sick and thought i can't take this anymore...do i have to be one of those that have to take it forever...i'm a little better now....oh i guess i am at about 10 mgs...AND STILL STRUGGLING....i have to do this...God please give me strength to carry on

No you don't have to take it forever. You just have to maintain a positive attitude, humbly ask for guidance and direction and just don't take more than you're supposed to. At least you're going in the right direction. The way subs work it doesn't bother anyone to drop from 10mg to 8mg. It's mental Barbara I promise you. You're making yourself sick. I'm not questioning that you're having symptoms that are making you sick. It's just that I think you're doing to yourself more than the subs are affecting you. Relax! God bless.

i'm checking in, how are you doing? you've been through alot hold on strong and walk in the light......sounds funny coming from me, the reclusive, scared sub addict but i still promise you i will make it back to recovery...i'm still trying to lower dosage...i know robert feels its mostly psychlogical with me and whatever it truly is, it is.............i will get on my knees and ask for the courage to get through the next dose reduction...i miss you and R and lots of folks' notes of support............believe me every little bit of positivity and support for this effort is a boost to me and i am grateful to all who believe my recovery is a possibility.........................every word written to me is like a little push from God!

Barbara, I'm writing to you because I'm 60 years old so I can identify in that respect. You have to calm down a little bit and have faith. I was addicted to opiates for a total of 44 years, methadone for 33 years. I managed to switch to subutex with very little problem. I started at too high a dose. Spoke to Robert in the beginning and realized that and brought myself down to a lower dose. I personally think the doctor is starting you too high. When I was on high dose sub, I was extremely nervous and couldnt sleep. When I came down lower, I started feeling better. With sub, less is more, believe me. Doctors arent that knowledgable when it comes to this but 24 a day is definitely too high. I understand the fear because of age, feeling that we might not live through another withdrawal. Well, the good news is I am taking less than 1 mg. of subutex per day now, and I feel fine. YOu just have to try to calm down, not be so afraid, 61 isn't that old after all, let Robert guide you down the right way. It can be done. First thing I would do is listen to him about the dose. Come down from the 24 mg. It won't make you feel worse, it will make you feel better.  | | |
