Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is being red-flagged and what are the odds I was?

Being red flagged means you are suspected of doc shopping or doing any other kind of illegal stuff with your narcotics. Usually means you will get the boot from your doc or they will put you on some strict rules like pill counts and lots of urine tests... If you are the same person that made the post about being caught doc shoppng then you will most likely get booted as much as I hate to tell you. There is nothing good about doc shopping but just like other said I wont judge because we have all been there. I understand you need your meds for a legit reason but what you will need to most likely need to do is find a new pain doc that does not know your situation and stick with taking your meds as prescribed and USE A DIFF PHARM... I doubt you will be able to use the same pharm again without causing you problems...

I think, and this is just my opinion, that if you had in fact been red flagged, You would know it. The pharmacy would be giving you a hard time, and the doctor would be asking a million and one questions. You should be going through urine tests like babydaddy said. My father gets his usual every six months pain panel, (urine text to see whats in your system and how much) for his pain management doctor but thats normal. What makes you think you might have been red flagged? And what did you do to think that could happen to you? I am not judging I am just curious as to what happened. Please let me know!

Talking

Okay, I did read the other thread on this. And I can tell you, that my Mom was in pain management a few years ago and they dumped her just for asking for her meds early, without doing any dr.shopping. she called them and said that her pain was more severe this month and she needed them early, they of course said no. she tried it again a month later when she ran out again, and instead of the doctor upping her dose, they dumped her all together. Now I KNOW this isn't the same thing at all, but if they would dump her for being honest, I'm almost positive your in some trouble. But To be honest, I really don't like its jail time trouble. With this situation, and I can ask a friend of mine to be sure, 'hes a doctor', I really think the most that's going to happen, is that both doctors will dump you, and even if the one on vacation doesn't, I wouldn't go back to her at all. I really would try to find a New doctor, a New pharmacy, and stick with STRICTLY those 2. It's really not worth actually going to jail for and that's what will happen if you keep doing this. As far as being red flagged, I'm sure of it. I know a person who tried this same thing and was dumped by 3 doctors at once. But again, no handcuffs or anything that serious. With one script being Oxycontin though, ouch. Bad. That's not as serious as methadone though. And where I live, it's hard to find a doctor who will even prescribe it because they are all so very afraid of liability stuff. Seems they are all happy to give out oxy's though, so really, it COULD be worse. I know for a fact if you were dealing with methadone here, you would definitely be in some serious trouble.
Breathe deep. Relax. Get away from both doctors, before they dump you, (unless the one already did?) and find a new one. But JUST ONE lol. And one new pharmacy. That's my best advice.
How did your injury happen? Do you require surgery or anything serious like that? How long have you been taking these meds? I can't remember if I read anything here about you wanting to taper down, or get off of the pills, so out of curiosity, are you wanting to? I'm still tapering myself, and I don't have an injury like you so I really don't know what I would do if I did. I don't know the ways to help severe pain without pills really, but I am sure Robert can help with that area. I am still relatively new here, I jump around trying to help other people the best I can. I do have quite a bit of experience with doctors, and people getting into trouble with them, my parents were nuts about that stuff lol. They would go out and spend a few grand on oxys down in the ghetto probably once a month. Up until he lost his job that is. And then get his huge dose from the doctors. Both my parents were well above 300+mgs a day. BAD.
Well if you would like to talk, or if you would like me to ask my doctor friend a question or two let me know I am here for a lil while.

Yes, the one Dr. did dump me--the 2nd is back from vaca on Mon. I hurt myself at work and had neck surgry in 07...I have nerve damage and will be on percs for life. If you could ask your friend if he foresees me having a problem getting percs in the future--that'd be great. I already made an appt. for new dr. and will use one dr./one drugstore!

Good! I think you will be fine. even if you are switched to a new med, hey it may work better you never know I don't think it will really determine if you can get the one pill you need most, I think it will just be harder to get the amount you need. But maybe, like they did with my dad, they will give you a script for breakthrough pain. That's what pain management does. Maybe your new doc will give you a referal for PM. Who knows, either way, I really wouldnt loose sleep over this. I would never do it again though!
