Unhappy questions about detox

Long story short , My Aunt just moved here from another state. When she got here she was addicted to a variety of pain medications. She has been prescribed all these by the same doctor which if you ask me needs his license taken away. She was in two car wrecks over the past two years and that is how it all started, needless to say we are trying to detox her . She takes 40mg Oxycontin three times a day 4 mg Morphine three a day , Soma , I am not sure of the dosage on that one and 10 mg Valium 4 times a day . I think this is just about enough to kill a horse but somehow she manages to semi function. This is the third day that she is off everything except the valium because we were told cutting her totally off of that could have very severe effects. She already had the sweats the runny nose and says parts of her body are numb. I want to know what else to expect and how log before she starts to feel better. Any info is so greatly appreciated. We are all so emotionally and physically drained from all this and do not know what to expect next it's like watching her die a little at a time each day .

Hi
That seems to be a little hash for detox if it was me i would taper her off of them one at a time...when I stopped my oxy it was horrable...
I really think you should do a little research before you have her go cold turkey and your right on the Valium it needs to be a slow taper...
If you need some help I was addicted to oxycontin klonopin and soma's and vicodon and perc's...Im coming up on a year clean now...
good luck and let us know how it goes...
Melinda

Default Makes me hurt reading it

Please this can be done in a much gentler way and its still going to hurt like ****.If your emotionally and physically drained after three days imagine how she must feel. She is obviously wanting to stop , there is no need to go through it like that unless she wants to do it that way . Could you give her a daily dose of pills to taper her down? Listen to Melinda as she is the expert on pill tapers . For someone who has never been through it -you could never imagine .

Hi Freedom I know I don't know when I 'll get over this part . I never knew that I would be able to function at all on as little sleep as I've been getting -nights just run into days. I've seen you on here alot helping . How are you doing?

Hey ladies ... check out the times you'll see me posting on here in the middle of the night and it's been going on since my clean date of 6/6/02. That is ridiculous I know and I hate to even bring it up. Don't want to freak out others making them think it will be like that for them too. Sleep is a tough thing to get back to normal. But I've done permanent CNS damage over the years, doubt my sleep will ever be "normal" again. I just do the best I can, I think that's all any of us can do where sleep is involved. God bless.

We literally tried everything to get her some kind of professional help. Since losing her job due to prescriptions she has no insurance. We called every detox and rehab place in the phone book here (that is why we are all drained) It was so frustrating taking her places and calling doctors only to get rejected. I never in my life thought getting someone in a facility that can handle this would be so hard. It was had to look at her knowing she was screaming out for help and no one cared enough to help her. That is why we are doing this on our own . It was a last resort. If she was addicted to a street drug or had a mental illness they would have taken her on the spot. I was even told that several times. We even took her to a few different doctors trying to explain the situation and get the things she needs to slowly taper her off. They would not prescribe them to her, none of them. I had to go to my Dr. and lie to her to get the Valium for her. So unless someone has a suggestion , I am more than open to them . This is the only way .

The best alternative for her, considering the corner you guys are backed into, is to go with the Thomas Recipe for help with the opiate detox. I'm going to end this reply with a link for you to read. The Thomas Recipe will ease her w/d symptoms. And if you follow my instructions we can make this as tolerable for her as is humanly possible.

It's important for her well-being that she remain on the valium for now. She could go into seizures stopping them abruptly. Don't worry, I won't allow that to happen if you do as I say. The valium is even a part of the Thomas Recipe so that works out good for her. I understand your frustration with the "system" under which people in need receive medical care in this country. It's appalling I agree.

I'm here on a daily basis. Communicate with me daily and I'll help you guys get her through this with some direction as you are obviously trying but simply don't know what to do. Keep me posted, I won't turn my back on you and I'll help you. I do this every day. Here is the link I referred to. Get everything that is called for ... supplements, etc. Then I can advise you as she progresses in her detox. You guys are in my prayers. God bless.

You are just about the most awesome person alive right now. I have almost all of the things suggested in my medicine cabinet except the L-Tyrosine. Which I plan to go do some shopping today and pick some up along with some bananas . I really hope this works, it hurts me to see her in so much pain and anything that would ease that is so appreciated , you have no idea. If I could hug you I would. You have been more helpful than an entire phone book of rehab/detox places. I will keep you updated.

Be sure to use the vitamin B-6 as that will help with absorption of the L-Tyrosine. Very important. Let me know how it works out. Good luck and God bless.
