I have been on Hydrocodone off and on for the past 3 years. 2 years ago I noticed dark (almost black) stains in my underwear in the morning (overnight). Initially I thought I had some type of fungus. I fought it bravely, even went so far as to submerge myself in a bleach mixture. The only thing that prevented the staining was placing a pad or toilet paper in my underwear. But they NEVER showed any staining.

I went off the hydrocodone for a few months because of all the talk of addiction. I finally noticed that I was not having the stained underwear anymore and I was very happy. I didn't connect it to the hydrocodone until I took a nighttime cold remedy that had tylenol in it. I took it a few days and low and behold the staining returned! I stopped the cold remedy and sure enough the staining stopped.

I am now back on hydrocodone. The staining has returned, but again by wearing a pad overnight it doesn't stain my underwear. But I now am experiencing pain in my pelvic area along with very sharp pains on both sides of my lower back (maybe my kidneys?).

Can anyone offer a suggestion? I plan to speak to my MD, but I really need something for the pain that I am in. I now take aspirin for the pain in my pelvic area because the hydrocodone doesn't help that.

By the by I have no uterus or ovaries. I am celibate. I am 50 years old with herniated disks in my neck and lower back.

I know this is long but I really could use the help.

bobbie, while you are one the medication and this occurs, go to the physician and have them run a urine test on you to rule out any blood in the urine. And follow up with blood work. Dont ignore the problem by all means, get yourself checked.
