| | Please support my hydrocodone stoppage Please, I am begging for any and all support. Long story short I've had a horrible 2 years and I have been using lortabs to help cope. Not every day but nearly, up to 80 mg a day but usually around 50mg daily. I have cold turkeyed before but because of my fragile state of mind I am REALLY scare this time. I tapered down this week to 20 mg daily.
Now I just want to kick this habit and heal. I just took my last 10 mg pill and started the stopwatch, this time quitting seems to be much more mental than when i kicked a similiar habit 2 years ago. I was off for 7 months before and the fool I am thought I could handle a lil on the weekends. I am addict and want to stop.
Someone please post on tis thread as I will be using onyl this website for support> I will check it hourly and want to make a connection with somebody, anybody to help me through this week.
I want to get better. I want better days.
Please help me. |

As much as you've tapered down just use the Thomas Recipe for lessening the symptoms while you stop. It works great and you won't have THAT hard of a time with this. Here is the link for it ....... God bless. http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...wal-35169.html

| | Hey my friend...
If you read my first thread...I said almost the same thing you did...I tapered down to 2 five mg vics and quit...your going to make it...remember take it ten minutes at a time if you have to...there is a lot of people on here that will love to help you get thru it...just let the time pass and you will get it behind you in know time....I would post a lot, it gave me something to work for. I think I drove Robert crazy telling him I would post back to him all the time...really I don't think he mined one bit...LOL...
Keep us posted and let us know what we can do to help...

| | Thank you Thank you Thank you You don't know how much having a friend on here is. Wait a minute. Maybe you do.
I was hoping you two would post in this thread. I can't thank you enough.
I have a goal. It's modest, but goal setting is important.
I want to be the friend on the other side of this like you two are. 6 months from now i want to be reading and posting on this website daily to help other people like me. Because when I kick reading here daily will keep me sober. I know this in my soul.
There's nothing as rewarding as helping other people.
Thank you. |

just doing that alone is a great accomplishment ...
you'll be on the other side it's just a matter of time...
So tell us about yourself and how you became addicted...not that it matters...just so we know a little more about you so we can help a little more.
and you will have better days...Im sure you have heard me say...
Your best days are yet to come...that is one of my favorite sayings...
Did you check out the Thomas recipe...
and we can start the clock I think you must have about two and a half hours behind you

| | I started snorting lortabs 4 years ago just on the weekends and never really got addicted. Just to 'party'.
Now it's nearly every day. I'm 42 and like to exercise, i used to work out daily but not once in 2 months. I'm lookn forward to the endorphin rush of a good run, a good workout.
I did last pill noon Saturday.
I'm trying to score some xanax to calm my ass down.
4 hours already.
It's Loooong, Harrrrrrd road I started on.
Wish me luck. |

| | I was taking 5 to 8 10 mg daily,
Wow, I just scored 8 xanax monkey bars and took 1/2 of one. Let me say that my anxiety about starting this has mostly gone. Wow.
well I'm 8 hours in and feel relatively normal, but I know that these were the easiest 8 ours I will have this week.
That xanax REALLY helped my mental state about this. I actually took a small nap just now.
Physically I still feel rather normal and have no craving yet.
So far so good |

Anyways the Xany always helps to take the edge off. Man you just need to be careful with those puppies. Im pulling for you dude, hopefully this wont be to bad! Keep posting when u need to huh. It feel s good to post while going through that stuff!

| | I can remember my last time going CT off Vics. We have these big gyms up here in Detroit, Open 24/7. I would hit the cardio for a while, hit the steam room, then hit the hot tub and let the jets pound on my achey joints. Feels pretty good for a few hours after. I would just keep reapeating for about 10 days! Seems like it cut my WD in half! You should try it if you can! Seems to work pretty well! Good luck |

| | Hey there, Timtoheal,
Just wanted to say hey - and let you know I'm also thinking of you and praying you through this ordeal. I've been there, too - as most of us on this forum have been. It's hellish to go through, but so worth it, getting to the other side of this nightmare.
You aren't alone - I'm sure many will be following this thread and saying a silent prayer, even if you don't see the posts. You are already helping other people, hon - right now. Many who read here have not yet had the courage to try to stop -- and are gaining strength by your actions today.
Hang in there, hon -- don't give up before the miracle happens!
God bless,

| | Hour 20:
Woke up at 8 slight belly cramps, first case of mild runs. Took first shot of Immodium, took 1 mg of xanax, laid back down on the couch. Announced to family I had belly cramps and diarreah. I'm gonna play this off as a stomach virus.
But overall discomfort is only a 2 on a scale of 1-10. My wd usually dont' start majorly til after 24 hours.
Got plenty of Powerade, chewable tums, Goody's headache power, protein bars, chocalate, and plain vanilla yogurt lined up/
I'm thinking of making this a journal so others can see the times and symptoms and state of mind., maybe it'll help out someone else. Atleast I hope so.
I started really using because I am a football coach who runs our weightlifting program. Love to workout. Anyay I damaged my elbow doing upright rows 20 months ago, and it hurt like hell, i didnt want to stop lifing so I started popping before and after workouts. Then I did cause I like being high. My perfect saturday/sunday was on the couch ith a pocket full of painers watching football all day in my sweats. It got to the point I dreaded leaving the house. So in a since I had jailed myself right here. I even quit working out in September.
The main thing in quitting folks is mental toughness. At the end of the day your going to be just fine. Opiate wd doesnt kill you, it just hurts a little for a few days and then your a NORMAL person again. Be tough pick a day 4 days out and I promise you'll feel better physically, and mentally about yourself. There I o sounding like a coach, lol.
Bring it on I'm ready for battle By God.!! |

| | Time,
Glad you have a good mental outlook right now. You should probably reread your post during your dark hours. I agree completely that the mental part is the toughest. It is so hard to get past your own brain sometimes! If you are an athlete, I am sure you have many times in your life where you just had to push through or ignore a previous bad play or deal with a player that is psyching you out - you probably did all of that w/o opiates. If you came through all that then, you can win now.
At least you can watch football today - I am already counting minutes until the games begin. Is there nothing better than football season? I am not a college football fan (I HATE, HATE, HATE the college bowl system - do NOT get me started. OK, I have started. Why the hell can't they just have a short playoff to determine final standings? Ugh. Hypocrite that I am - I will watch the Florida/Alabama game next week). Anyway, NFL today! I won't tell you who I root for b/c they are TERRIBLE this year and you might give me loads of grief for it. Anyway - Football is on. Life is good.
Hang in there. We are all on the sidelines rooting for you (yes, bad football pun) altho' you would never get me in a cheerleader costume (another soapbox issue for me).

| | OK. I feel guilty for not standing behind my team. I am a lifelong Chiefs fan. Yes. I know. they are awful. But my family has been watching the chiefs since before they were in the first superbowl (yes, which they lost). I was actually born on a Tuesday afternoon after my mother drug her 9 month pregnant self to a Monday night game at Arrowhead stadium (we had season tickets - passed down from my grandparents - on the 40 yard line). My mother is a fanatical NFL fan (reference going to a stadium game while due any minute - can't let an opportunity to go to a game go by! She probably would have delivered me at half-time then gone back to her seat to see the rest of the game - that woman is TOUGH and crazy.)
Anyway, I confess. I am a chiefs fan. Altho' I live on the east coast now so I never see any of their games as they aren't usually televised here.
just a mom (& Chiefs fan - sob)
PS Yes, we had Royals tickets too. *insert razzing here* BUT, we have also been lifelong KU bball fans and that has brought us joy in the depths of our despair. |

Thanks for withholding any comments about my Chiefs. Even if they would be deserved. And true. Painfully true. Sigh.
I do have to admit to being a bit of a Steelers fan - I hope we can still be friends.
Congrats on 25 hours. You rock.

Thanks friend. I was always very athletic in high school all state basketball and footall i started coaching just out of college and have been since 1991.
I got very heavy in 2000. I got divorced and went from 305 lbs to 195 IN 6 Months. All I ate for two years was plain tuna, grilled chicken protein shakes (5 a day with skim mil) and ran 2 miles 6 days a week. I went from not being able walk 2 miles to running 5k in 22 minutes-ALL WITHIN 6 Months. Sooooooo I have been a fitness nut since 2001. I actually led our eight program for the past three months and hit it hard four days a week, in the weight room and cardio. I soooooooo cant wait to b hitting it hard again. soon
Since Sept I havent worked out once, all because of all i want to do is score painers and sit on the couch watch tv and surf the web. I have wd before and agree EXERCISE is great for opiate withdrawal. Those endorphins are a better substitute than opiates.
So far two pot runs, icky. 2 sweat/freeze cycles body not feeling too bad gonna say 2.5 outta 10.
I love this forum!! Gracias to you Angels who inhabit this place. Won't be long and I can join you folk I so admire in helping others get better. |

Please DO stop in and reply. I need you very badly the next 72 hours.
And WooHoo the clock is still running.
Just a few fever/chills but they last only a couple of minutes, and a few trips to pot. I'm gobbling Immodium pills and swiggin Pepto. Eating a few m & m'm, and taking a dose of xanax helps.
Discomfort 3 out of 10.

| | Time,
Glad to hear you are still hanging in there. Not too much longer - by tomorrow morning you should be close to halfway through the worst of the physical stuff.
Think you can get up and exercise tomorrow? People swear that even a 10 min walk does wonders (and kills time). Sounds like you are an athlete at heart so that should be a good avenue for you...
Best of luck,

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Let's see. A few (5) sweat/freeze episodes. 2 goose skins, Immodium has stopped the runs to the bathroom. Been drinkin lots of powerade, eating protein bars, and peanut butter. small creepy crawlies but not major. Low grade fever which I battled with goody's headache powder. lots of lethargy, but not much acheiness. Head is pretty cloudy though.
Discomfort 4 out of 10.
No cravings at all. NO CRAVINGS AT ALL
Can I plug Goody's Headache powder here?? Each dose has 260 mg acetomenaphin. 520 mg aspirin and 35 g of caffeine as well as 60 mg of potassium. And you get 6 doses for $2. I take 2 doses at a time. it's helped lower my low grade fever and help out with bodyache as well.
Try it out.
I am hoping to walk some tomorrow not much 15 minutes or so, the more we sweat the quicker this ends.
Looking forward to my 1mg of xanax and sleeping a few hours.
shoot I'm 12 hours from day 3.
I can do this. Mental toughness is the key. 5 days to get your life back. Who wouldn't make that trade?? Get some xanax or such to keep from being so anxious about starting. It works wonders.

| | Tim, i've been following this and I gotta say you are a strong guy and doing awesomely, mentally and physically. GREAT FOR YOU DOING A HARD THING WELL......
As for the sports talk, being a New Yorker I gotta say ALL NEW YORK TEAMS ROCK... GO YANKEES... please don't throw anything...
To Tim and everyone... In my life, I have gone cold turkey off many things, hardest being heroin and I did it more than once. I cannot vouch for hot showers and warm baths more strongly. I remember being so sick kicking then getting in the bath and for that amount of time, there was almost NO withdrawals.. I don't know the physiology of it, but I swear its the best. I know there are other things, but to me, nothing was a better aid.
Be good everyone and have a great night.

My man called an hour ago with 30 mg roxies and it was easy to say no I'm kickin the habit.
I fear tomorrow will be worse than today, but Tuesday will be the beginning of a big turnaround for the better.

| | Hey dude! Sounds like you are getting through this! You also sound like me and my boys. Its does suck going through WD for sure. Locking your self up in the house with an X Box and a bunch of good supplements, its nothing more than 7-10 days with a ********ty flu. Its really not that bad. We just have to remember once we get better that taking just one is nevr a good idea. It sounds like you have been here a few times like me. And it never failed me before, it always sounded like a good idea a few months down the line to take just one and chill. Always been a big problem for me. I would cut your boy off with the Roxies on the asap!!! You can do this brother, you just cant ever take one again!

it's a battle.. like any battle.. just depends do you want to win?
I'm ok.. off the vic's.. now I have another demon ... ugh...
push.. keep focused..stay busy.. get out of the house..
and like you
I had a 'flu' or whatever so that I could rest while the family played..
You can do it..
and seriously the people here are a great way of not going face to face if you are scared..like I am.. but still get the support..

I just wanted to pop in and offer you my support.
I have just gotten through my physical w/ds for the second time since July. The second time around was just as bad (if not worse).
Listen to the advice given to you on the site. I DID NOT, and suffered the consequences for my actions. As said so many times, and is SO true: Getting clean is actually the EASY part. Staying clean is the process that requires you consistently do the next right thing.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, glad to hear you are doing OK, and I hope to talk to you often on the forum.
Kindest Regards
