Default Periostat-Doxycycline-lightsensitivity side effect

Hello everybody,
Maybe somebody can help me with my problem.
I have pretty serious side effects after talking Periostat/Doxycycline/ for my gum problem.
I recently developed light sensitivity in my right eye.
After three months of taking Periostat I'm practically unable to go to the store or Mall with artificial light without sunglasses.
I have never had this before.
It's been with me for last four weeks.
I'm sensitive to glare and light reflections-also to LCD screen of my computer or light reflection on my shiny floor etc.
My sunglasses work pretty well, but without them I feel bad-sometimes dizzy and helpless.
Two years earlier I was talking Periostat and developed pretty serious gum infection-my gums were swallowed-but after I discontinued taking it my side effects were gone-pretty much right away.
My question is:Is this reaction pretty common and how long will it last.
I recently feel-especially on evening some small improvement-but four weeks seem a little too long.
Bright steady light and sunlight or car-headlights at night don't seem to bother me at all-only whither walls, light reflections or shining objects.
I appreciate any help.

Peter

ouch. I know doxycycline can definitely have that light sensitivity effect. A lot of meds do, and I know it can be uncomfortable. You sound like you are having an extreme reaction, I would talk to your doctor or pharmacist to see if these symptoms usually persist that long. In the meantime, where shades----
