    Default Opiate Craving

Hi, I had my wisdom teeth pulled and was prescribed Percocet 10mg. Due to complications and extreme bleeding and pain I was prescribed this high dosage according to the doc. I am already an attic after two weeks of use. I take them for the Euphoria it induces and the sense of well-being, I also can communicate with people and no longer have anti-socialistic behaviors or fear of others when I am taking them. I feel normal. I don't know how to stop and have now gone thru other people to get them illegally. Please help and offer me advice and how to conquor this evil. Thanks!! Sincerly brett

Brett, that Euphoria and well being has to be put out of your mind some how if you want to quit. You can do it! You could try and taper them gradually over 2 or 3 weeks. I believe you can cut Percocet pills in half. There is a good video on YouTube from a guy who was hooked on opiates (Percs, Oxy etc.) for years. He explains how he tapered down. Found it

He looks like a real burn out but his approach seems logical.

There are others on this board who can give you some good tips...hang in there.
    Good Luck!

Are you saying you are hooked after only two weeks? If so, BRAVO to YOU for recognizing your addictive behaviour and doing something about it so soon. It takes most of us years to admit that. DO NOT continue down this road of addiction, it will just be worse to get off of later. Get off those pills NOW. That being said, w/d is no joke. It's hell. There are tons of people who have gotten off just by hanging with us here on this forum for support. Everyone here knows the lure of the good feelings those pills give us, but it's not real. Eventually, you will have to take more and more just to feel good and then, one day, you won't even feel good. You end up taking them so you dont feel like ********************. What good is that? Stop now. Hang in there and keep posting so we can be there for you. Best wishes and good luck.

People who truly have addictive personalitities that are passed on genetically are addicts before they ever use. Many people in my family were alcoholics, they lived in casinos, every type of addiction there is. I know without a doubt that I was addicted the first time I ever got high in 1968. The key is to recognize our addiction and deal with it.

If you don't stop taking the pills now you will have to later or die. That is the cycle of addiction. Being only two weeks, just throw the damn things down and stop it. You are at a dangerous crossroads here and what you do will affect the rest of your life.

well i have been on pills for a long time now, and high doses, yes i fell into the addictive state, but i pulled out of it! the truth is some people really need a narcotic to get reliefe from pain. like i said its will power, i went from eating 90 norcs a day to 6 a day, with the oxys as backup, dont touch em unless i hurt myself like at work or sumtin and the norcs arnt cuttin it.
the pills wont ruin you, its up to you if you let them. everyone who says (oooo get off those they will ruin you) well thats bs, that is your decision, do you want to get ur pain relief? or get high? if you take them right you will still get somewhat of a happy feeling but nutting like when you first start. but thats not what the pills are designed for. just use ur head.

    turpin41,
I would NEVER tell someone to "get off pills" that were prescribed and being used as they were supposed to. The only time I say that is when someone reaches out for help to get off them because they admit to abusing them. I am in TOTAL agreement that there are many, many, many people who have pain presciptions that are legitimate and necessary. However, when someone posts "help me! I have an addiction problem", and they admit they are buying them illegally, well I would do anything I could to help them get out of that.

greenday, sorry, i missed the point where he said that he was gettin them after his scrip ran out. but if the guy is still in pain (mabye from dry sockets?)
he needs to see his dr. but only if hes in pain.. thats what i meant by will power. i went threw addiction stages and pulled throw to use them wisely.

guy, if you are truly, truly in pain see ur dr. BUT if you want them for feelin happy bein euphoric, then stay away from them.

The original poster of this thread is "tripping" after using only a couple weeks. He would be better off dealing with the pain than putting himself in harm's way. Some of us have been shot, stabbed, and everything imaginable and we survived. A little pain from a dental visit or even a dry socket is nothing compared to the horrors of addiction. This guy needs to deal with it. He does not need pain pills ... he is begging for help here. We have to watch what we tell people. Their lives are at stake. This is a serious matter.

You are so right. For so many this forum is our only outlet. Our only escape. Our secrets are our addictions. There are real people behind these words out in cyber land..and it is easy to forget that sometimes.
