Exclamation opana/having problems

I'm a 42 yr. old female, weigh 110 lbs., 5 foot tall, and my dr. one day took me off 160 mg. of methadone and 90 mg. of oxycodone a day and is now giving me 5 / 40 mg. tablets a day; 200 mg. a day of Opana ER. I'm now having weird side effects like numbness of my limbs, heart rhythm changes (already had slow heartbeats and spasms w/damage to the lateral wall of my heart & abnormally low blood pressure) unbelievable pressure is building in my head and i'm getting horrible migraines. right now, my arms are numbing slowly, my finger ARE numb, my hearts skipping around and i keep having a hard time catching my breath. I'm starting to get kinda scared. calling my dr. does NO good, she won't even listen. I'm wondering if I should go to the hospital or what?

Sorry I haven't had the opportunity to reply sooner. Hope you are feeling better. I don't really understand why you would need to take five 40mg oxy and Opana 200mg in addition to that. Why five 40mg pills? That is a strange way to dose the medications it seems to me. They are all extended release meds, nothing fast acting for breakthrough, but all of that is insignificant right now. I find it very strange (and scarey) that you told the prescribing dr what your symptoms are and she won't talk to you about it??? Have you had any of these symptoms before or did they all begin when your dr made the changes to your medication regimen? You are taking large doses of medication. The symptoms you describe could be serious especially with the heart history you described and the respiratory symptoms. This would concern me enough that I would go to the ER immediately. PLEASE GO and let us know what happens at your first convenience. Hope nothing is wrong but it's certainly best to be safe. You need to look out for yourself or no one else will. Good luck to you.

These symptoms can appear when you switch from one strong opiate to another.Methadone would render the oxycodone useless especially after you go above 80 mgs a day of methadone. So I don't understand the doctor ordering that in the first place as it would do absolutely nothing for your pain.
Methadone alone is probably your best bet although Opana ER is also an exellent pain killer for chronic pain.
If it's been more then 2 weeks since you changed over then I would definately get after your doctor.
Give the Opan ER a chance as it is a powerful pain killer and useually does the trick......Good luck..Let us know how you make out.......Dave
