Default Off suboxone for a weekend of fun!

Have a question about suboxone and opiates.
I am on suboxone for 6 weeks now,but before that, I was a oxycontin user (400mg a day) for 1 year. I was wondering if I stoped the suboxone for a week and then used opiates again for 1 weekend, would I go into withdrawls if I took the suboxone again? For example, If you were OPIATE DEPENDENT (meaning you'll get withdrawls if you stop using) and took suboxone, you would go into preciepitated withdrawals. BUT what if a person NEVER took an opiate in his life, and then took vicodins for 1 week striaght, and then took suboxone, would he go into withdrawals?? Im guessing he would not because 1 week on an opiate should not make you dependent. so if he stoped the drug,(vicodin) after that week, he shouldn't get sick. Now, suboxone will get rid of any opiates in your system by displacing the molecules from the receptor sites, thus making you feel the way you would if the vicodins left your body within the normal 24rs time period. If you're using for a long time then withdrwals are coming after 24hrs.

So What Im trying to ask is....

I want to stop the suboxone so the stuff wears off and then use opiates for a weekend of fun. (i know stupid) Then go back on suboxone on monday again. The only thing is im afraid I MIGHT GO INTO WITHDRALS. COULD THIS HAPPEN? or do I need to be on opiates much longer than a weekend before suboxone makes me go into withdrawals.

Just a thought,
pete

Read this entire thread. It'll answer your questions. Personally, you're idea, although I understand it,, and it surely is tempting, is really freakin' DUMB! It is the epitome of junkie thinking.

Do you think after your weekend of "fun" you'd really go back on the Suboxone, or would you wait until you just ran out of pills?

Good luck! I hope you do the right thing.

Since the Suboxone has Naloxone in it, the neutralizes Opiates, which is another reason it helps with withdrawals since it removes it from your body faster, you would not get any effect from other drugs for while, after you stopped taking it, until the Naloxone is out of your system.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~

hi again,

well, of course its dumb what i want to do but remember, I stop using pain medication becasue the street price was 100.00 per day. I could no longer afford to spend 700.00 a week on pills. So I stoped for the money. If I paid 50 bucks a week for them i would still be on them. I got hooked on them because of aches and pains in my body and it gave me a sence of well being (to boot) I am on suboxone now and all the aches and pains are back (along with a sh_tting scene of well being) and I thought wouldn't it be nice to have a couple of PANLESS DAYS a week. And to answer your comment, No, I wouldn't keep using then untill i ran out, I would saved them until NEXT WEEKEND. But after reading the post you sent me, it still doesn't answer my question. In the post, he said AFER NOT GETTING HIGN FOR A WEEK, HE WENT BACK ON SUBOXONE. But my concern is did he go into withdrawals from it at first, and then feel better. Wouldn't he have opiates in his system for A WEEK ? Why didn't the suboxone put him into precieptated withdrawals? If the NALOXONE was stil in his brain receptors, then the opiates had no place to attach to and he pissed it out, therefore the suboxone dominated the receptor sites and there would be no changes to his system. BUt on the other hand, did the opiates attached to the receptor sites, relieving pain but without the high, then, as soona s hne took the suboxone again, the suboxone replaced the opiates without any withdrawals. You see, how confused i am over this. I need to learn more about this before I try it because I rather be with aches then with withdrawals.

thanks,

FYI... I was on suboxone for a year and it put me in rehab with the worst WD I have ever felt in my life. And I originally went on the bupe to get off heroin. Come off of it now before it's too late.

Dedhedl: What was your taper program? Can you tell us your usage history, i.e., how many mgs. did you start with, when did you start tapering?

Other heroin users have said getting off Suboxone was way better than getting off heroin. Any comments on that?
