Default Need question answered ASAP please...

Hello all, I've been on oxycodone for about 2 1/2 years now due to a bad back after a car accident. My dose, as I'm sure you all now, has had to gradually go up as the time has gone on and for the last 6 months or so I've been taking about 100 - 120 mg's a day. The problem I have is my car was stolen earlier today while I was at the movies and unfortunately my briefcase was in it with all my meds including my oxycodone. I called my doctor but he refuses to write me a new script even after offering to show him the police report. I've never abused the drug or had to get my prescription filled early before but my Doctor told me I would have to wait until my next appointment, which is exactly one week away, before he would give me a new script.

In the two and a half years I've been taking the medication I've never missed a single dose except for a time a couple months ago when I was out of town and had my pills stolen out of my hotel room (by I'm sure someone from the cleaning crew). I didn't call my Doc that time to get a new script as I was only three days away from getting my next refill and I didn't want him to think I was abusing the drug. It was the worst three days of my life. The withdrawal symptoms were pure hell.

This brings me back to why I am here. Since my Doctor won't refill me for another week I have been FREAKING out about the withdrawal symptoms and I know when I wake up tomorrow my life is going to be horrible. I was telling a family member of mine about this earlier tonight and she gave me a prescription she just had filled yesterday hoping it could help as she doesn't like taking pain meds for anything. The bottle she gave me has "Morphine Sulphate IMM REL 15MG" on it. I know from some quick research that morphine is also a pain killer and I was hoping someone hear could answer a few things for me. First, is the morphine anything like percocet (will it help get me through my withdrawals)? And if it will help how much should I take? What is 15MG of the Morphine I described above equivilent to in oxycodone?

I'm not going to take any tonight as I'm terrified of mixing meds but if they might help I plan on start taking them when I get up tomorrow but I have no idea if they'll help and if so how much I should take.

Thanks, in advance, for your help...

Hi! What she gave you is an immediate release of 15 mg morphine. If I'm understanding you correctly, youre taking 10-12 10mg oxycodone tabs per day? Or are you on oxycotin?
Anyway.. yes the morphine will help you. How you feel from them might be a bit different. But they should handle the pain and keep you from withdrawl. A bit of caution here... does your doc test you? (urine,blood etc) The morphine will show up and if over 3 days your oxy wont. Also.. have you had morphine before? any allergies?

I'd say only one immediate release if what you are prescribed is 10 mg of oxycodone. Gotta give me a bit more info.

Sorry, my oxycodone's are 10MG and the bottle says take 1 or 2 every four to six hours. I usually take two at a time four to five times a day giving me a total of 80 - 100 MG's a day.

Default I'd still say ...

only take one immediate release to start. If you havent taken morphine before you need to go slow. IF after an hour or so no reaction... and pain level or withdrawl level is still up there take another. I'm gonna assume you take your med by mouth ( and not up the nose) Time of impact a bit different with different routes. More then likely you can handle 30 mgs of morphine . WARNING Morphine does not give you the 'speedy' kick that oxycodone does. Soo taking more than you need is NOT going to give you that UP feeling. So watch what youre doing. ;
