Remember whatever you put inside your body is also going inside your baby's.

My withdrawal was the most awful experience of my life, and I've had some pretty serious medical ones. I didn't think anything abd was going to happen until two days sober, then it grew increasingly worse. I would go to sleep at night and wake up two hours later in a cold sweat, vomiting and sobbing uncontrollably because I felt like everything in the world was evil and hateful. All I could do was sit next to the toilet on the bathroom floor and cry until the feelings would pass, about two hours later. I could never get comfortable enough to sleep, so I was tired all the time, and had bad diarrhea and stomach cramps. All of this lasted about five days, except the morning vomiting, which lasted about two weeks.

My boyfriend, who was even heavier of a user than I was, quit at the same time. I didn't understand why he didn't have the same symptoms as I did, it seemed to me like he got off easy! All he had was insomnia and anxiety for a few days, then he was fine. But he was a lot more psychologically addicted than I was.

Withdrawal symptoms and length varies among individuals. The worst thing you can do is to start taking them again. I keep doing it, and I keep being very sorry I did. Good luck, honey.

Jesus Christ will help you through. -Betsy

Methadone has a long half life and is a very powerful narcotic. If you had been taking methadone on a daily basis then your withdrawls would be intense after 72 hours to say the least.Say good bye to this small time habit and look to the future for you and baby.If you stop now your baby should be fine,if you continue to use then you would likey lose the baby to the authorities when it was born or worse yet lose it to death from drugs. You haven't gotten into a heavy addiction and that's good as your brain hasn't been effected as would be if were a long term heavy user.So good luck to you and your baby and stay away from that shet!!!!!!!.....Dave

Liv...very important! Because of your pregnancy...I'd like you to get in touch with Sharon Dembinski at my website. Sharon is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, NAMA Certified Methadone Advocate and Lead Developer of the Program "Mother's on Methadone" (MOM) at Kent Hospital in Rhode Island. Ordinarily....I'd just refer you to our detox/taper forum, but methadone and pregnancy are a whole different ballgame. It certainly can't hurt, yanno?...would make this Mama feel a whole lot better, lol!

She has a forum there.....just register and tell her what you posted here. Here's the link:

Wishing you the very best of luck with your pregnancy!

Yes methodone acction is worse the heroin withdrawal. It usally takes drugd 3 days to leave the body. The first 3 days are usally easierbecause meth usally last like 36 hours. I heard stories from dudes in jail where I work that it took them months to really get a good night sleep because in bmore they don't detox you in jail program or not. The only give you something for ddt which vome from drinking withdrawal. Just drink a lot like water, gatorade or orange juice. The more you drink the quicker you flush it out your body. Good luck

Ok hunny I am telling you this from experiance and do not let ANYONE tell you otherwise because I almost lost my child during my pregnancy, and pregnant women addicted to narcotics of any kind should not quit taking opiates, its crucial that you get put on methadone throughout your pregnancy, I went in for help when I was 5 months pregant and thye had to put me on methadone and monitor my baby, I can tell you it was the best choice I made, I tried to quit everything cold turkey and it didnt work my baby started to go through withdrawls, your unborn fetus/baby can have a seizure and die if you suddenly quit no matter how much or what you were taken, I had my son on 7-7-06, he was 6 weeks early on born on the methadone he had hardly any withdraw symptoms and he is doing wonderful, now I cant really give you all the medical explanations as to why its so important that you get on the methadone but I am going to give you a name of a dr here in Michigan that specializes in pregnant women who take opiates, she will be able to explain everything to you and possibly help you find a dr in your area, trust me I know what I am talking about, and another warning, if you continue to use during your pregnancy they will find out, if you go into the hospital for any reason they drug test you, if anything comes up positive in your drug screen they will call cps on you and there is a chance they will take your baby after he/she is born, please dont takt that risk, I have just went through this and I strongly suggest you give this doc a call just to get some information from her, she wont charge you or anything for tha call and shes a wonderful dr and she knows everything there is to know about pregnant women and drugs so shes very trustworthy and I would take any advice she gives you, she saved mine and my childs life tremendously, shes a great dr, her name is Dr. Joyce Hartsfield she is located in Memphis Michigan, the facility she works at is called "sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center"
her telephone number is (810)3922167
address is
400 Stoddard Rd., Memphis, MI 48041-1038
P.O. Box 41038

Im telling you if you have any concerns she is the perfect dr to contact about that, shes very concerned about pregnant women, thats why she has dedicated her career towards it, in fact she used to be an obstetrition...Im just saying she saved me and my baby so if you have any concerns feel free to call her, good luck with everything, I hope everythng with you and your baby works out, do the right thing, get some help, you owe it to that baby!!
