Methadone to Suboxone

...Hi Melinda, I think maybe we forget sometimes that you are also thrying to get better! I know you have quite a bit of clean time in now. So how are you doing/feeling these days? You have been clean since August? Is it getting any easier? Today is 15 days.

Yes it does get easer...but I still have those days where that little voice in the back of my head says OH go ahead you could have just one pain pill it will be OK....When that happens I try to slap that thought right out of my mind...But just so you know it still does pop in there from time to time...
I have fibromyalgia and DDD...so I have to exercise everyday or my back kills me...but I think for the most part I'm going to be ok...

I can remember day 15 for me...I was very excited I knew I was going to make it by then...
So how about you..how are you feeling ???

I promise you will need three days off the methadone prior to sub induction or you will suffer precipitated w/d. If you were to use oxy to attempt to shorten that you would still have to go a good 36-48 hours. That makes no sense. You're better off dealing with the three days of misery from the methadone. I promise you I'm right on this. If you start on the sub too soon you'll regret it more than I can say. Good luck and God bless.

I agree with Robert, although I haven't personally experienced taking Suboxone too quickly after Methadone, I had a good friend who has. She unfortunately didnt know what Suboxone was and she was on Methadone. Someone gave her the Suboxone, she took it and ended up in the hospital within a few hours. Luckily she survived, but I will always have that image engrained into my brain.

I have an update on my situation witch is really not a good one. Here is what happened I was supposed to go to my last counseling today but my counselor was not there today and I was told I needed to be there tomorrow at 6am which is impossible because of work. I dont know why they are giving me a hard time because I only have a few days before i am done. Anyways we had a small argument and I was told if I cant make it tomorrow then I would have to sit and wait to be the last one dosed ( which would make me miss work and I cant do that ). This turned into an argument and anybody that goes to the clinic knows they can care less about you. I told them I would not be back. What is my wait time if I took 25mgs today as my last dose...

The clinic is just angry with you b/c you are leaving and that's money they won't be getting. Believe me I know, went to one for 8 years. Methadone clinics care about nothing but the money.

Yea I kind of figured that. When I was tapering there they made sure to remind me every day that if for ANY reason my insurance (medicade) cut off I would need to pay for the remainder of my days IMEDIATELY... gotta laugh about that. Its been over 2 weeks now I have been off the methadone. Subs are working well but have problems at night sleeping. Im sure it has to do with recently quitting methadone. Like I said in another post, I have been on subs in the past with no sleeping problems. Im sure in about another week or 2 this will stop. I hope so because when I look in the mirror I can see dark circles around my eyes from not getting proper rest. I cook at Denny's so I dont want to go in there looking like a zombie. Im just happy I was able to get outa the clinic within a year... I made that promise to myself when I started. I know I learned a valuble leason. DO NOT get on methadone unless you absolutely have to. Trust me......
