hey, i was reading on another post where this thing called rsd was mentioned which is a nerve disorder-regional sympathetic dystrophy. it is usually caused by a trauma to the nerves or a toxic agent to the nerves. wow, i thought, this sounds like you!!!! girl, you should look this up on the internet. there is definately meds for it, and there may even be a cure. i didn't even finish reading because i wanted to hurry and post this to you!! this could be what you are looking for!

hey,
my daughters pediatrician told us she has that..went to the docs after having alot of pain in her arm..hospital xrays said it was a fracture, but 2 other hospitals,as well as ortho specialist said it wasnt...so back to the pediatrician, and thats when he said she had that..he actually gave her tylenol 2..which kind of had me worried..she took that for a lil while, and thanfully thats done..she did fine with them...but now shes having some probs, now that she went back to gym, shes in more pain, and mentioned those pills...but there are no more since they only gave her a lil..so were having her take aleve,as well as her starting physical therapy..they dont even know how it happened..she didnt injure during karate or gym...one day her hand swelled up,and arm was in so much pain..some days her finger turned purple..really strange..but no explanation..sorry to ramble, just sharing my experience

Hey Rorvan... I'm sorry they had to go through that with such a small child! That's terrible. I don't think it's what that other chick has though because her symptoms were as follows "Clip from her post regarding her symptoms"

I started twitching, getting tremors and tremendously shaking when nervous. I get hot flashes all the time. It freaked me out that I was going through this trauma and my body had changed completely.

It seems like your story invloves nerve pain and her sounds like nerve damage. There is a difference.

Anyhow... It is very interesting. Did it ever go away?

I hope you're having a great night!!

Peace and Prayers,

Lori

yeah it does sound different..i just noticed the term and knew it was what it was diagnosed as..its strange with no actual injury that she was having all those problems(my daughter,i mean)..i was getting calls from her school all the time that she was in pain, and twice her finger turned purple.. it initially started hurting during karate class, but they werent fighting or anything..just started out of nowhere..so lots of back and forth to docs and ers,and now shes finally back to gym and will be starting therapy to get general range of motion back...well when she went back to gym finally, arm became sore again, and now her back started hurting.....to make things worse,2 girls(at seperate times) hit her arm purposely, and others have threatened to break it..they saw her in the sling and knew she was in pain, but that doesnt stop them...middle school girls are sooooooo mean today its unreal...see my daughter is not a follower, and will speak her mind, and they dont like that..they dont like being challenged.....little do they know,my daughter is one belt away from becoming a black belt,lol..watch out!! anyway, got sidetracked as i always do lol,but shes doing better for now,its just a mystery.

hi,rovan, my son is in high school ,now, but ,you are right, the kids in middle school are mean as heck!!! i'm glad she can defend herself, those kids get so jealous and mean, and there does not have to be a reason ,they just are, well when my son started highschool, everything changed, thank god,He loves school his grades have really improved, they are alot more chilled in high school.Good luck w/ finding out what is wrong w/ her arm.keep trying ,there is a Dr. out there somewhere that will finally figure it out,,Later,Tammy

hi tammy
yeah,i actually think high school is easier than middle school..me,it was different when i went to school, sure there were people we didnt like, but were never as mean as they are now...and as tough as my daughter is physically,it still hurts,to the point she has missed school, gone to the nurse because she gets herself so sick...and seems that she gets in trouble for defending herself, and the bully doesnt really get into much trouble at all...as a result of missing so much school, grades have slipped..she still has one more year there, but im hoping that after the summer, things will get better.as for her arm,i hope they figure something out too..i know money shouldnt be an issue, but going to the ER a few times(150 each time),as well as doc visits, its costing me a small fortune, and thats with insurance. well, gonna try and get some stuff done around the house..things have really backed up since i first got sick last week, and i finally have enough energy to do a lil work around the house..ttyl Rory

God,it sounds like exactly what happened to my son at school,he got in trouble for defending himself and the other person didn't.your daughter has 1 more year and her grades are slipping, same as my son, soo,we sent him to summer school so he would not have to repeat the year over ,again. He sure didn't want to go to summer school, but he lived thru it.good luck and tell your daughter to keep her chin up,everything will work out for the best !!! talk to U later,Tammy

im hoping she doesnt need summer school.. i really wanna sleep in,lol.. seriously though, when i have her conference in a few weeks,im going to see if there is any way she can get extra help in the morning, lunch or after school,so that we can try to avoid summer school....seems like every day she comes home with a story of something else that happened..and as i said, its not that shes afraid or anything, its just that shes so frustrated that no one seems to care..and ill tell u,its so stressful on me as well..no one wants to see thier child hurting like that..i get so anxious while shes at school, wondering whats going on..well sorry to ramble on,but as im sure u know, its so frustrating..im just glad that she at least has other friends there,or she would be even more miserable..just thankful that this school year is almost over!!!!!!

Hi,Rory, how's it going?? how's your daughters arm?have you been doing any research on the computer ,trying to figure out what is up w/her arm?I know doctors here in our area are not very competent, how's she doing in school? are the problem kids still harrassing her?if the school basically over looks this situation, as alot of them do,the only way she may be able to stop the harrassing is to knock the holy cr*p out of one, then that way maybe all the others will back off,its awful that you have to resort to violence to stop violence,Hey,lately Ive read where schools are cracking down on bullies.take care ,check w/you later

hey tammy
actually her arm is doing well,ty for asking..she hasnt mentioned anything about it lately,so im keeping my fingers crossed...problem in school is still going on,with one girl in particular..but my daughter hasnt backed down..i hate to say this, but she has the mouth of a sailor when someone says something rude to her lol..of course i dont condone cursing at her age,or fighting, but in this case,i have to say i think she has every right.. and i think i said this before, the girls dont like the fact the shes not a follower and wont just sit and hang on thier every word..or when they bother her, they expect her to just sit and take it...well they werent expecting what they got with her,lol.. well ,its off i go..time to go watch the grade school kids..i watch them at recess time, and its unreal some of the things i hear them say..

I have reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) as a result of knee surgery. RSD was first discovered during the Civil War with some soldiers after being shot. There is no cure for it, only treatment.
