Hi,I was just put on Lamictal 25 mg for Bipolar~~ Has anyone tried this drug and does it help?? Any side affects to be worried about?? I also take0.5 mg Clonazepam and 250mg Depakote. I just started taking this today so dont know what really to expect.... Any input would be appreciated [:I][:I]

My daughter is on it and it is working very well. She has been on all kinds of stuff but the lamictal works best for her. You may have to adjust the dose later on when you get used to it. And watch for that Stephens-Johnson syndrome thing ( some kind of rash from hell--you'll know it if you get it, bad stuff). What happened with her was that she just slowly started functioning and got less depressed. She has had some slightly hypomanic episodes but nothing like in the past and the irritability has gotten a lot better. Good luck!

Hey,
I have been on all sorts of meds. for my Bipolar Manic Depression. I have been on Lamictal before but it didn't work for me and had a bad side effect of weight gain for me. But it effects us all differntly.
I have also been on Depokote and this med. for me was horrible, over time of adjusting my dose. I got to where I was totally out of it all the time. I got to where I couldn't function for about a year. My husband had to help me with it for awhile. It was really bad I could talk to you one second and couldn't even remember two seconds later that I had talked or even seen you. Of course also it effects us all differntly.
I have yet to find a med. that works for me. They say next he wants me to go on Lithium but I am scared to death to try this med. I have seen it's effects on people close to me and some have become psychotic. Very scarry stuff. But I am running out of options.
