Default I want to help, please read if trying to quit

First off hi to everyone I used to talk to, I havent been on te forum in quite a while, my addiction had me and reading these posts made me want more.

I am now into my 5th day of being clean and I'm doig great all thanks to a new treatment for opiates (relatively new). Instead of methadone treatments, there is a new treatment using a substance called suboxone (buprenorphine). It is still an opiate like methadone but it has opiate antagonists (May not be the correct word) that also make you sick and go into withdrawals if you try to add any other form of opiates or take too much suboxone.

I have to let one 8mg pill dissolve under my tongue every morning and it holds me for 24 hours. Ill start to get minor cravings around hour 20 but my doc told me thats to be expected for the first two weeks or so and they are easily managable. The burning, shooting pain in my muscles went away the first day I took the pill and they havent returned yet. I never thought I would be able to quit but suboxone seems to be the answer for me, and 4 other people in my town according to my doctor. I live in a city with 250,000+ people and my doctor is the only doctor here that has started using suboxone treatments so far so it may be hard to find smeone to do it still unless you go to a big city, Im just lucky there is an open minded doctor in my town. (conservative Lubbock, TX in case your wondering)
There were two downsides to the treatment: First, you have to be in withdrawals before you can start (I went without for 24 hours to get there so its just one day of hell really). Second is the cost...
my insurance covers this doctor and everything but he doesnt accept insurance for the treatments yet, Im guessing because its still so new. So, I had to pay 900 for the first week, and 100 for the next three weeks but after the first month it is only 200 a month to keep it going. My doc said this is typical, that these were the same prices as in California. I know it seems like a lot of money, I fogot aout the treatment for a few months after I found out how much it cost but I finally decided to spend my money on treatment instead of more drugs this month. I dont know about everyone, but if you were like me $1000 was easy to spend on pills in a single month.

My main diet was about 200mg of oxycontin a day so these treaments are definately powerful enough for most addictions. Im on the 8mg pill but he said it goes up to 24mg a day, but 8 is all I need coming off of a mean addiction.

Im finding it somewhat difficult to express how much I think this treatment can help anyone and Im rambling on so Ill end this post now. Please, please look into suboxone (buprenorphine) if you are looking for a way out, I believe it can help you and I know thats what I came to these forums for originally. Help keep this post at the top for others to read and put down your experience with subox if youve started it. Ill keep updating on my progress as well and please feel free to email me or message me or anything for any questions you might wanna ask me. Hopefully Ill be posting on how easy it is to ween off of suboxone soon but one day at a time right now.

Good luck to all addicts.
