Default How long is withdrawl last from Oxy?

Hello,

I just read a post that stated this:

W/d lasts ~ 7 to 10 days, with days 3 - 6 usually being the worst.

I want to know how long w/d lasts? I have heard 3-4 days but now that I read the post that had the comment above;I am now confused and trying to get a solid answer? Thanks in advance everyone for your thoughts!! I was taking at least 100mg a day for over a yr

Can you please tell me how long w/d will last and if there are certains days (i.e from above-3-6being the worse-is that true?) based on my lenght of using and mg's?

Thank you all!

Hi Drew
for me it was about four days, but everyone is different..so it is really hard to pin point it down....Ill put up the Thomas recipe for you and let us know how we can help...
talk to you soon, Melinda

"PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox. This is a recipe for at-home self-detox from opiates based on my experience as well as that of many other addicts. It is not intended as professional medical advice. It is always wise to make sure none of the recipe ingredients or procedures conflict with medications you may be taking. Likewise, if you have any medical condition, disease, allergy or any other health issue, consult your doctor before using the recipe. Thanks, Thomas

THOMAS RECIPE

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.

Thomas"

I thought w/d lasts only 4days or so then after that it is ur will to never do them again aka relapse.

If anyone has gone cold turkey please tell me how long w/d lasted?

Thanks in advance and thanks for the fast response melinda!

Okay great thanks; yes I did work with Robert! He was very helpful!!! My doctor just told me to talk 1 8mg sub a day for the month and then come see him in a month (just a biz and wants my 100 bucks a month forever if he can-unreal right?) I had no clue about the stabilizing but it makes total sense bc it allows u to figure out how much ur body really needs not how much the doc wants ur to be on...

A side question- my doctor told me that w/d for subs last 2 weeks...Is that true and is it a different less severe w/d then opiate?

Tx

Melinda: Sounds pretty good. In the past, I've used benzos (in coma doses LOL 100-150 diazepam) alone. They didn't help me that much at first. That's me though and I wouldn't recommend those doses to anyone. I will say that after the initial 3-5 days, 40mg daily of valium helped alot. For myself, I only used the benzos for no longer than a month, gradually tapering as the days passed. I copied your remedy for a "rainy day." You didn't mention how long and/or what Rx you were usiong. Hence my situation.

I have been on 480mg Oxycontin for the past year with a 120 tabs perc's 10/325, p/month as well. Prior to that I was on 400mg oxy for 5years, with the same amnt of percs for breakthru. Prior to that....LOL. Seriously though, I've been on opiate pain meds for 13yrs w/o a break. Only one time, about 7yrs ago, while on hydros I was off for three months. As I said above, I used massive ammounts of diazepam to get through.

I've had 3 back surgeries over the last 13 yrs. I've also had an extremely liberal doctor. My problem now is that my doctor moved out of the country...seriously and not for any legal reasons. Today, I met with my new doctor. Scared? you bet! He will continue the same regimen (whew) but I'm not sure for how long. Currently I'm being treated by new doc as post-surgical. My last surgery was in July. They told me it would take from 9-12months to complete rehab. What then? That is my fear. Soooooooo, if you or anyone has a suggestion or a doctor in NY (LOL)...let me know. I figure I've got a few months, but that withdrawl is in my head like a train already. Hope to hear back from you/someone.

ps: I'm not a good suboxone candidate....I've already been told....because the duration and dosing it too high.....also, I can't afford a heroin habbit. My insurance won't cover (kidding)

xxzeon1 ...... Anyone that says you aren't a good candidate for subs because you used too long and too much has no idea what they are talking about. You're a perfect sub candidate and you could be totally clean relatively painlessly in two months if you do it properly.

I used thirty 30mg roxies plus 30 or more lorcets along with ALL KINDS of other garbage every day and I used drugs hard for 35 years. Someone is giving you the wrong info.

Here is the link for the way I suggest people using subs. Again you are a perfect candidate, don't let ANYONE convince you otherwise. There are TONS of success stories on this forum of others who've used just as much or more than you for just as long. God bless.
