    Default Help for roxy

Someone in my family is hooked on roxy and I think this is short for roxycontin. He says he is wanting to get off but is scared of the w/ds he knows will happen. What I am asking is will suboxone work for this type drug. I don't know a whole lot on this. I have taken sub in the past
for lortab addiction and know it works for that. Just have to be careful and not get hooked on it. Any advice is appreciated.

hey Thogan! How long have they been using? And how much have they been using? A sub taper would work for your family member. But, if they haven't been using long or they are on a low dose, going cold turkey might be the way to go. Read the thread Subs-Pros and Cons. It is a very imformative thread. Suboxone is a very very powerful drug. So weigh all ootions before getting on subs. Good luck!

Roxies are a nickname for Roxicet - or Roxicodone. It is the same drug is Percocet. Percocet (oxycodone) is the stronger cousin of the drug you overcame, hydrocodone (hydrocodone). Same family of drugs.

Yes, if necessary, suboxone can help with the detox. Suboxone should not be taken casually or lightly; your family member needs to learn more about it before beginning. A person needs to be well into active withdrawal before starting the drug, or it can backfire - and end up giving precipitated withdrawals, not something anyone wants!

I do agree with Rose on this - if possible, I'd forgo the suboxone - and try cold turkey. Here's a link to the Thomas Recipe, which will help with cold turkey withdrawal: http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...wal-35169.html

Here's the link to the post from Robert_325, our "go-to guy" on this forum for suboxone: http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...apy-50887.html Be sure to read it thoroughly.

    God bless,
    Ruth
