iVE BEEN THROUGH ABOUT EVERY DETOX THERE IS AND I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS NEW DRUG.I JUST WENT TO DR AFTER SUFFERING A SEIZURE FROM TAKING MYSELF OFF XANAX..WE THINK NO OPIATE WITHDRAW BUT WHAT THE ER DR TOLD ME IT WAS FROM ALL THE BENZOIDES IN MY BODY AND THEN ABRUTLY STOPPING. I know my husband had a seizure when he stopped taking Klonipins. They are similiar to Xanax. You can't just stop taking them...but IMO, I don't think you need sub. It's very powerful. If you had no withdrawal from perks...then consider yourself lucky. Your doctor sounds abit ignorant..sorry if that offends you.

that my dr would just tell me to take whatever makes me feel comfortable..i will not allow this its been 6 weeks almost and he is encouraging me to take up to 2 aday. At night im getting headaches i never get headaches. I decided today to take 1 am for the day thru sat or sun then aday 1/2 i'm just stradled that something like getting a big addiction to this and he sayssee you next month..what can i do????will that hurt me i don't feel uncomfortable. I really am in no position to help or inform anyone about this drug...but I've done alot of reading and alot of thinking, and I learned to not take this drug lightly. I think your plan is good, but perhaps someone else can be more informative. I'm amazed at your doctor. Where I live you have to pay thousands and turn your whole life over to the doctors.EVERY little detail. I'm not doing it.

Subs do not keep any type of benzo like xanax or klonopin from working, but the two taken together with subs can cause respiratory depression so be careful. God bless.

BTW...I got 6 8mg subs today. I've cut back a little everyday. Tomorrow, I'm taking 2mg am and 2mg pm. Does that sound good??

In order for us to help you we need to know your dosing history.We can not say whether or not 2mg 2x a day is good without knowing the rest of your dosing history.We can help you but you need to be more specific .It would also help to keep posting on the same thread.Here to help!MM

If I hadn't come here...I might be putting the whole 8mg under my tongue, not knowing what I was doing.

Thanks for history info. That info helps us to be able to help you. Robert helped me get clean several months ago using suboxone.Robert is an amazing person.No need to feel horrible.Almost everyone on this forum has the same history as you, and some of us were much worse than you.Thats the past.We only concentrate on the present day....lol..do not rush your taper off of suboxone.you should stay at your current 4mg 2x a day for about 2 weeks before you start to taper.You will be detoxing from the opiates for at least 10 days.Have you read this yet?

That information helps and you could just continue your communication right here if you like on this threaD. I use ongoing threads like notes for remembering everyone's history. There are so many people to keep up with.

I also had seizures following xanax/klonopin detox along with soma and of course opiates. I hate to see anyone go in that direction unless absolutely necessary. i would try to keep any benzo to a minimum or nothing if possilble.

Once the opiate detox has subsided the physical medicinal use for the buprehorphine is basically over. It's then that we need to get into recovery, use church, do something to help us get out of ourself. Recovery in NA helped me the most, at least for the first few years, and others as well.

So if I understand you correctly you've taken percs (or whatever) for about four years, you want to stop using but you've previously had some really negative cold turkey experience. You are at your third day on suboxone at 8mg per day being taken in two 4mg doses daily. Correct me if I missed anything but that is what I took from your post. For doing this on your own you seem to be doing pretty well physically and 8mg is not a bad place to be after just a few days.

Did you read my post on suboxone/subutex therapy? I recommend it to everyone new especially. It will help to make more sense out of some things I might suggest. One is that you should probably reduce your dose now after three days by 25% down to 6mg. That should be your lowest effective dose based on the info you've provided. IF a patient is doing really well that 25% reduction at the end of the first four days makes the ideal induction. Check out the following link and let us know what you think. Again I think you should reduce to 6mg ..... God bless.

MM and Robert-again, thanx so much.You've embraced and understood what I'm going through more than any doctor. As I've stated, I was going to have to pay thousands of dollars and drive to another county(60miles away) only to have that doctor start me out on a very high dose of sub. I have to say...doing this on my own and starting out at 4mg am and 4mg pm, I think I can do it(on my own)

MM, thanx for saying it's not horrible. I have felt so much guilt for getting myself into this mess). Robert, I go to the alter and kneel with my son and pray every chance I get. I look up and ask God for strength everyday.

We own a real estate brokerage, so there is no way I can be seen publicly at any of the NA or AA meetings. There's a public image I must mantain. That kinda leaves me with only my 'willpower' to be drugfree, which I believe I have, we will see.

I also wanted to let you know that the only other pill I take is either a 1mg xanax or a 1mg klonopin at night...to sleep. I would love to get off of those. I'm trying very hard to be alot more active now that I'm on the subs and hopefully I'll be too exhausted at night to need anything. Real Estate really #$%@! right now..so the stress level is high, financially.

Also, I've had a headache for days, I'm assuming it's the subs...and i do feel panicky at different times of the day, but I believe it's mainly because i've made such a drastic change in my life this week, and perhaps that panic will slowly subside.


That being said, I've read the link you both provided many times, and thank you for that. It made/forced me to realize I HAVE to slowly reduce to a sliver(which i can't believe that a sliver can help....but I'm doing it when i reach that point.)

I WILL, starting today, start at 6mg. I know that later today the urge to take SOMETHING will hit me, it's a very powerful urge, but it will only be 2mg since I've already taken 4mg when I got up this morning.

Also, I didn't know it was 10 days before the opiates are out of my system. I was hoping they already were, besides the sub. Thanx for that info.

If I feel horrible later, it will be 4mg. If I'm OK, then less. Tomorrow, I will start 3mg 2x a day....just have to figure out how to split up these 8's to do that...lol

I just got off the phone with a very good friend of mine who called to sell me her pills.
She is use to me buying them to help pay her bills. She's a disabled vet that I take to the grocery store, doctor,ect.. I told her I wasn't taking/buying anymore, ever... Now I feel so guilty! How can I remain friends this way? She needs my money.Who's the worse friend, me or her?
I did not anticipate this.What a mess.

I've edited this to add that now, for the 1st time since Tuesday, I am craving one of those 80mg OC's. It is not time for my sub, at all. I guess this is a mind over matter sort of time...If I knew how to frown I would.

Bless you, Robert. I've been torn because I told her I would still take her to places and help her at home...but she seem agitated with me.

I've come to the same conclusion that you posted. My family is most important to me and if she is any temptation to me at all then I guess she goes too.

My friend doesn't understand how those pills controlled my life. She plans to die taking them.(And you wouldn't believe how much she takes!)

I have used it but never really stuck to a good plan like Robert and MM mention. I do know that it does work very well with getting you through the withdrawl. Im sure you already get that by now. What state do you own your brokerage in? I have used the pain meds to get me through some hard times in the real estate biz myself!!! HAHA no matter how many pills I took the market never got any better!!! Im in Detroit area so im sure you imagine. Nothing like popping pills to cover up deal after deal falling apart! Hi Dago, thank you for the support. I really, really want a clean life. I was so disgusted with myself I took the pills just to stop the withdrawals, but they didn't make me happy at all. I've felt like I hit rock bottom this last month, and I'm sooooooooo glad I found subs!
And the market...what market?! I'm in North Carolina. And you know what it feels like to have a closing put off again and again and again....that just happened last week. This closing was put off 3 times because of the morgage broker...then he finally admitted that the bank did not have the funds to loan for the house! These people put escrow money down last September, and it took the bank THIS LONG to admit they didn't have the $. Well, as you can imagine, we really did some cussing. That's just an example of how hard it is here in real estate. People can't get loans. Houses are going way far cheaper than they should be, but you still can't buy them because the credit crisis hasn't eased at all.
YES, absolutely, I just wanted to pop more pills and have a glass of wine. Is the market really bad in Detroit? You guys have had a bad hit with the car industry, right? It's hard times, but I tell myself it can ALWAYS be worse.
So, are you trying subs? and do you know if a glass of wine is ok to have with them?

Cath, I think if you're down to that much, your're doing OK. Robert or MM will know much better than me. Just remember that you (it sounds like) have been through pure hell and you seem to be on the right path. Do you work? Do you live where you can go outside and enjoy the fresh air and the crickets and birds? Music? I try Yogo to help me relax and stay focused.

We were thinking about having are ceremony as part of the Sunday service at church and have it be about marrige...so we would be up in front of the church and its a big church...but I think it sounds really cool...

Thanx, Melinda. I've done alot of thinking...and I've realized that my 'friend' should have said "I'm really happy for you"....or something to that affect. I really thought of her as a friend, not just a drug buddy. She served our country for 20 yrs in the Air Force and was badly injured in a wreck in Japan. But I did enjoy doing all those things for her...I even cut her hair. She can't go anywhere to have that done. I know her VERY well and I am the only person she trusted, she would never sell to anyone else, nor does she know anyone else to sell them too. That being said, she's NOT selling to me anymore. As far as I'm concerned she did me no favor when she told me how pills would help my back and my migraines. I don't know anyone else that sells them, and I'm glad I don't.
Anyway, thanx for the support and I think I will hang here awhile, there are alot of nice ppl here and it's nice to FINALLY have ppl who know how it feels to go through something like this(and not be so judgemental)..

Hi KK, yes I have tried the subs a few times. The way I have used them was very short term, only a few days. I really do not have enough experience with them to recommend what would be best for you. I did have sucess with them short term in the past. I do know that Dr's start people out on way to much. Hopefully you can get all the right info you need from Robert and MM. Just do what ever it takes to never go back to where you were and I think you will be fine!!! I have been back and forth with the pills for years and they just dont work for me. You can do it!

I do have a friend of mine who is a KW agent in NC. He has been down there about a year and a half. Last winter he used to call me to tell me how great things were going and how good the market was. He is now a foreman on a landscape crew. Yes Detroit area has suffered a ton with the auto industry. Put it to you this way, I sold a home in 2006 for 196k, just picked up the same exact house, same everything, for 46k two doors down. That is more of what ive been consentrating on. There r still a few ways to make money around here. That house will have 7k in repairs and back on the market at 110k in two weeks. Granite, stainless apl, perfect for first time FHA buyers. But I think it is tough no matter what state we are in now. I think Mi. was one of the firsts, and now everyone else is catching up.

Also, Cath I think this is your thread, I hope you get through this as well! Good luck, and sorry to talk about real estate on someone elses thread.
