I am getting ready to have all wisdom teeth taken out soon. The doctor has perscribed me an antibiotic, Amoxycillin to take for 10 days. I took it today at 1:00pm and a few minutes afterwards i felt very sick and started to get a fever, aches and pains, stomach ache, and feeling very very weak and confused. I took this with milk and cereal and a peace of bread with water. These effects happened for about two hours then it stopped.

Last year in October, i got an infection and i took Doxycyline and Flagyl. Both made me feel the same way but worse horribly sick feeling like i had the flu with aches pains and a weakness that made me feel like i was dying. I tried to get through it but on the 4th day i puked my guts out and layed in bed shaking badly. I then stopped taking them and luckily when i got a checkup the infection was gone.

I am aware that i need to take the Amoxycillin to be ready for oral surgeory but it is hard taking this antibiotic. What i want to know is if there is another way to get through this? I heard that some cause suicidal thoughts. Am i supose to just suffer these side effects until i am done with the pills? If so do some people go in the hospital while on these antibiotics?

I would tell your doctor ASAP this should not happen to you and even go to the ER this is not good.

It sounds seriously like an allergic reaction - that CAN be lethal. If it ever happens again, call your doctor immediately - and do not take more of it until he says to.

Tell your doctor ASAP - and ask for a different class of antibiotics, if it is needed before surgery.
