    hey from en zed,
been where you are pal, i switched from methadone to sub one year ago.

yeh the sweats are from the methadone, i used to get it too. specially when i was rattling, but a lot of the time,
dont just stop your methadone, at 30mg, hell no. you will be in for a world of hurt.

you need to taper down, slowly, i got off in 01, by moving to australia, and did a huge horrible ct, did count down officially off the program, but was using illicit meth and morphine on the side, so i suffered.

got back into it. i know the feeling too well.

catch up later, gotta run to dentist, getttin new teeth sorted. woo hoo.!

thanx for that buddy...so i will keep taking taking my methadone and try to taper it down also forgot to mention....my counsellor mentioned subutek but i thought they were a craving blocker but like i said i dont crave heroin anymore so what would be the point of subutek? but i heard i could be sweating because im either under dosed or over dosed with my methadone...so i a bit confused..dont want to go back up on meth but these sweats are really frustrating i dont feel like im rattling i feel brilliant but the sweats are embarrasing....hope you understand what i mean

Sweating is one of the side effects of methadone. I was on it for many years and luckily never suffered from it too badly, just time to time. There is no way you can stop at 30 mgs. sweating or no. You'll end up in a much worse place. IF yo uwant to get off methadone yo ucan switch to the subutex and taper off of that and end up on nothing. Speak to your counselor about how you can go about doing it on the program and let us know.

Sick - congratulations for taking the time to find out what's going on and for pursuing sobriety. It's tough getting off anything, but the best bet is to work it through your counselor so you'll not put yourself at risk of relapse or in a health risk from coming off too quickly. Good luck and keep posting. May God bless your efforts and determination.

    Hi !

When I first started on the suboxone I was sweating just like you are now. Man it sure takes a toll on you and ditto with the social life!! Seriously, I water would literally poor down my face, back of my head, chest I was carrying around a small cotton towel so I could try and hide it....bad days!!

I'm on a lower dose now and the sweating has disappeared....

Hopefully as you taper down further it will diminish cuz I know it's a nightmare to deal with, but even worse was the thought of stopping suddenly and dealing with the nasty withdrawals.

Give it time and keep tapering slowly, pretty soon you'll be off it all and not dealing with any of it, just the clean healthy life.

It's great you have a counselor that is supportive of you!!

    Hi Sickameth,

I've been through the profuse sweating with other narcotics, myself - and witnessed what you're going through with others on methadone. Small comfort, but please know you aren't alone!

I wanted to pass on some information on the suboxone/subutex, via a thread on this forum, written by our resident expert, Robert_325. Robert has helped countless folks get clean using subs, and his advice is golden. Here's a link to read his post: http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...apy-50887.html

Please read through it thoroughly, as it is essential you understand the details about how to go about this. Doctors, sadly, are ill-advised on how to implement this medication for best results. I'm sure Robert would be more than willing to help you through the subs process, starting it properly and at the best dosage. Doctors often give too much - and too soon - and that sets a person up for bigger problems in the long run.

God bless you with the grandkids - I'm a grandma, myself... it's quite a blessing. If they ask why you're sweating, be honest...just tell them, "It's because of the medicine that I'm taking." (Sometimes, simple answers are the best!) I do hope that you are able to transition from methadone to subs, as that may be the best way to get yourself clean once again. I'm praying for you - and those precious grandkids.

    God bless,
    Ruth

yeh sick, take care on the transition, get it wrong like i did, and you go into precipitated withdrawls, and trust me they suck big time. really do. worse than any normal rattle thats for sure. and if its thru a clinic like i was, try and get them to start you correctly, i went in, not on a 26 (didnt know bout it, nor did my doctor) they gave me 4mgs right away, then 2 more, then i started to feel really bad, off to the bathroom 3 times, they ended up giving me 12mg, and i drove home and went to bed for 2 days, nearly went back on the methadone, i was that s scared. but someone told me to hang in there, it will get better. it did, but i was one sick puppy for a couple of days.

subs allowed me to sort a lot of things out in my life. i know there just as addictive as methadone, but you can taper down a lot easier, and get to a low dose. and dont worry bout the numbers seeming low, i thought, hell 12 mg aint gonna touch the sides, but subs are way way stronger, so ya dont need much at all.

ive chosen to stay on .5mg for some time, some say nah dont do that, but for me, its been great, im living a pretty normal life these days, not runnin around spendin all my money on drugs, not rattling on the days i havent got any, its been good.

    all the best ay

    Hello Sica -
I too want to wish you well with your transition and tapering. I started Subutex about 2 months ago, and unfortunately, the doctor started me on way to high of a dose - 16 mg. I didn't find this forum until after I had been taking the Subutex for 5 weeks. But now, I'm just below 8mg, thanks to the resident hero, Robert and the support of the caring people in this forum.
After you receive your dosage, maybe you can post the amount here, run it by the people here in the forum for some feedback like I did...at the very least, for the peace of mind you're on the right path.
I wish you lots of luck and will look for you Monday after your appointment w/your counselor.

    Precious

    hey sick, how ya goin.

so are you going thru a clinic, where you will have buggar all control over what happens, (like me) ?

just askin, hope they listen to you, and get it right. its hard when you see how they do it on here, then you go off to your clinic, and they jump on in, boots n all, and give you a massive amount just to make sure you gonna be ok.

all the best for, this morning, you said you in uk ay? i got family up in glasgow, been there a few times, so its maybe 2 in the morning for you.

    good luck
