Default In hell. Need advice please.

Hello all. I have been lurking here for awhile but today is my first post. A little backstory about me; I had a back injury 12 years ago. Went through about 11 procedures and L4/L5 fusion surgery. Been in chronic pain for 12 years. Have been on just about every pain medicine out there. Oxycodone has always worked best so that is what they have mostly kept me on for about 10 years.
My problems come in with the doctors either want to put me on very high doses of long acting Oxycontin.Which I refuse to do now. (Been there, done that and don't like it). The other side is putting me on doses of short acting Oxycodone, which they refuse to give me in a dose that is effective enough. With that my options were to take the dose as prescribed and still be in pain all the time or take what I actually needed to get the pain to a tolerable level and run out early. I ended up in a repeating cycle of being okay and living a normal life for a couple weeks then spending a couple weeks in pain and withdraw. Last month I got tired of the merry go round and stopped the medicine altogether CT.

I keep reading on this board about how so much better everyone feels a month out. I have been waiting for that to happen for me but it has not. I still feel bad, have no energy (even with the Vit b6 and L-tyrosine), apathy and my back hurts terribly.
Am I doing this wrong? Is there something wrong with me?

    Hey Phoenix,

So you have been opiate free for a month now? Is that correct? If so, congrats! You just made the best investment for your life. I am an addict and I used for fun not because I was in pain. I have been addicted for about a year and a half. My story is out there, its on the first page, its called "I'd like my life back.".... Take a read and maybe it will help you out.

From what you are telling me I dont think you are doing anything wrong. It seems like you were on narcotics for a very long time, so your body just needs more time to regroup. You should definitely be through the WD's but you are now battling the mental/lethargic stages of not using pills.

Just give it time, a little but more time. There are several people on here that are going to respond to your thread and help you out. Some are just starting to get clean(me) some have been sober for years(azul, cheeky, robert, caughtagain,)

Just hang in there, you are doing the right thing. Keep posting so I know how your doing, thanks.

I think we all have out own timelines. For example most everyone gets diarrhea when quitting, but I dont. I am only on day 7 so dont have much to offer except that you have done an amazing thing and i hope you turn the corner real soon.
