    Default Happy Thanksgiving

Have a great Thanksgiving to everyone on the forum and your families. I've been gone for a short while but have recovered wonderfully from surgery, have had to rebuild my computer a couple times, but all is well now and I will be back online tomorrow after our Thanksgiving today. Wish everyone well, with all God's blessings and pray for an awesome day for everyone! God bless!

Hi Jay ..... Yep, big dinner with family, friends, etc, to give thanks for all of our blessings. Most people are off work today through Sunday, a nice four day weekend. Me personally, I retired years ago so the days are all the same to me .... I only do the work I have to or want to do every day. LOL God bless.

No, I would not go back on subs based on what you've said. I'm with company this evening but will talk more tomorrow. Just try to relax tonight and we'll figure out a plan for you that doesn't include subs. You aren't taking enough opiates to justify taking them and to go back to subs based on your symptoms makes no sense to me whatsoever. Will talk more tomorrow. God bless.

Robert ..... Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! I am so glad to finally hear from you. I really did miss you on the forum for the time you have been off of it, and I know the others have as well. I'm sure glad to hear that you are recovered from your recent surgery. We are both very blessed and I'm sure that you know this.

I have Prayed for you and your wife Melinda many times in the last few weeks. I know that you have done the same for me as well and I really appreciate it. We are both creatures of God and know that the power of Prayer is unmatched by anything else!

You seem to have your computer issues taken care of and are ready to dive back in on things. I have done my best with the time that I have had to be of some help to others here. I do not have any intentions of trying to take your place and only want to fill in and help you help others. I feel that in your absense I have done a pretty good job with it. I hope that you will agree.

I can not be on the forum full time quite yet as I am still recovering to a degree with this nasty Staph Infection that has bugged me along the way. You for one truly understands just how grave a situation it can be and was.

Please continue to have a great time with your family and friends this evening, and throughout the Holidays. I will talk with you in the next few days I'm sure. Take care and God Bless you and Melinda.....Denny

Vince ....... I would NOT start back on the subs tomorrow. My good friend Ken wrote to me a couple days ago about you and explained your situation in some detail. He asked me to try and advise you as he knows most drs don't deal with addiction very well. You have to have been there to really understand what people go through. I was an addict for 35 years and am lucky to be alive, so you've never done anything I haven't I assure you. I now have pushing ten years clean just so you know.

You have to understand that subs are only a tool to detox from opiates. They do little for pain control, depression, etc, longterm. You can get yourself in a worse place than you are now if you take them for the wrong reasons.

Coming off SSRI meds can be as difficult as opiates or worse with the brain zaps, depression, anxiety, etc, and Paxil is one of the worst for these symptoms in my experience.

I suggest attacking one drug at a time. If you could simply start adding a few hours extra between your Paxil doses that would likely help and eventually you would have them out of your system unless you are clinically depressed and not just bummed out as there is a huge difference. Drs pass out antidepressants more than opiates and I think it's pathetic. And take your time. This isn't a race.

As you lower your Paxil doses you could use the Thomas Recipe for opiate detox to rid yourself of the opiates as you aren't even taking that much. These two processes would make a huge difference for you I think. We will stay in touch and I'll try to help you as best as I'm able. Let me know what you think.

I will be on and off the forum so if you post and it takes me a while to reply don't freak out. I will check on you when I log in. Hope this helps. But you need to make a commitment to go along with what I ask you to do or it won't do any good. Stay in touch. God bless.

Denny ..... Take care of yourself. You are of no use to anyone else if you don't make sure you make it. And I'm not concerned about anyone wanting to take my place. In fact, during the last couple months where I've been on here a minimal amount of time I have realized I just can't do this ten plus hours a day anymore. It was a good break for me and a time to reflect on myself. I will log on and off and do what I can to help others but I have allowed other priorities to go by unnattended and I can only do so much while still living my own life too.

Take care and we'll talk soon. I appreciate your prayers and you are right that they have been reciprocal. God bless.

Robert i only took the ssri for a couple of days so i really dont know whats causing this. I'm not taking the paxil I think i,m craving the subs or opiates so bad my body is still in shock and i did'nt ween off the subs just stopped but i was taking a little amount. didnt know how to ween off. Do you think i should try a little chip of sub and see how i feel it might take it all away just asking .

Vince ..... what dose of subs did you jump cold from and how long has it been since you touched one? And since you stopped the subs tell me your daily opiate use honestly. I am here to help you, not trying to be your probation officer. I won't judge, I don't care what you did but I need to know to give you the right info. I will advise you based on that. And how long did you take subs and at what dose?

Why would you take Paxil two days? It takes at least a couple weeks for it to even start having effects on you that are very noticeable. One of the warnings starting Paxil is feelings of suicide so I am not a big Paxil fan anyway. God bless.

It's good to see you back again! You were around when Melinda and I were flying back and forth from Houston to Seattle and back for months and she first got here on the forum. Good to have old friends around. Melinda says, "HELLO!" God bless.

Vince .... All the buzzing and tingling head to toe as you call it concerns me. Granted you were on subs for a while, too long in fact, but you're not taking a huge dose of opiates at this time, not to minimize your problem. Getting relief from a benzo like xanax with the symptoms you describe even make me more concerned. Forget the Paxil, five days isn't enough to matter.

I am more concerned about you having some sort or neurological problem that won't be cured with narcotic pain medications. Have you ever seen and been throroughly checked out by a qualified Neurologist? This could be so many different things causing the symptoms you talk about that this is one of those times I would like to hear what a trained specialist has to say before I make any suggestions.

I would never give advice that would harm you, I'm sure Ken told you that. I really wish you would make an appointment with a Neurologist as your symptoms could be nerve-related and something that could be effectively treated without using narcotic opiates. That would be a true blessing. Let's rule out something where a simple treatment could benefit you. So often we have pain, and it's real, but the cause of the pain is not always something best treated with narcotics. That would be a blessing for you. I just want to be sure we are pursuing what is in your best interest first before getting you on more opiates. Keep me posted and let me know what you can do about seeing a Neurologist for a complete physical. I hope it helps. God bless.

Vince ...... I just spoke with Patti about you (Patti is knowledgeable and I've known her a long time) and I don't think that you are negative at all. I know Patti mentioned Diabetes but she was just trying to grab for straws, anything that might be a possibility. She wasn't trying to make a diagnosis, just trying to get you to the right dr. I know she also mentioned neuropathy which doesn't have to come with Diabetes. It could be a vascular problem, a nerve disorder of some kind, or any number of possibilities. That is why I said that in your case having a complete physical with a Neurologist would be a prudent action for you. They should check you out from head to toe literally.

I often make fun of drs not knowing what they are doing dealing with addicts. But something like this is the time when it's in your best interest to seek out a specialist in the field related to your problem. I am delighted you followed through and made an appointment like you were advised to do. That in itself shows me that you are serious and not just seeking drugs. You want to get well! You've proven that by your actions. You'll be in my prayers buddy and I am anxious to hear the results.

If a pain pill makes life tolerable for the next week or so until you see the Neurologist I say take it. You are not abusing them, just keep it to a minimum. And let me know what kind of results you find out when you get checked out. God bless!

That is one more indication to me that this is something neurological, or nerve-related. It just all seems to add up to me, but understand I'm not a dr, Just have a lot of experience. It could even be an autoimmune disorder. Hang in there. Keep me posted. God bless.

Not likely. So many people think they have PAWS when it really seldom happens. Not hardly anyone often suffers from true PAWS. Most people thinking they are suffering from PAWS are actually just having w/d symptoms as some last longer than others. I won't go into a detailed explanation of PAWS at this time, but it isn't as common as so many people seem to think. I read it here all the time where almost everyone who is in w/d for a couple weeks is screaming, "PAWS!!!"

I will stick with my original suggestion to get a complete check-up by a Neurologist. Hope that helps. I would want to know the actual medical results of the tests before proceeding forward. Guessing with PAWS is not the way to go. Lots of things are difficult to diagnose accurately even with tests, let alone guessing at something so unlikely. God bless.
