I won't go into a detailed explanation of PAWS at this time, but it isn't as common as so many people seem to think. I read it here all the time where almost everyone who is in w/d for a couple weeks is screaming, "PAWS!!!"

I will stick with my original suggestion to get a complete check-up by a Neurologist. Hope that helps. I would want to know the actual medical results of the tests before proceeding forward. Guessing with PAWS is not the way to go. Lots of things are difficult to diagnose accurately even with tests, let alone guessing at something so unlikely. God bless.
Ok Thanks Robert i'll keep you informed.

This is completely off any subject robert but I had a dream about you the other night and your name was Ruth and you turned up in England to go to a Sports thing (don't know what). And I was with my friend called Ruth and trying to work out how I could say I know you and how come you had the same name as my best friend. And I was showing you round the town and it turned into Valencia in Spain. You were younger than (I guess) you are now; anyway - just wanted to share even though it makes no sense; it was nice to meet you in my dream; you were nice!! Thank you for your posts - all of them. Love Jay xx

Robert I just want to keep you up to date on my condition.i went to my doc. on th 7th he said all blood work was fine no nerve damage or neuropathy and that my insurance wont cover an MRI (i dont understand that) his answer was that my blood work didnt show anything that calls for an MRI so they wont cover it. But any way he gave me Neurontin 100mg (gabapentin) 3x's a day. the 8th was the first day i started it. He wants me to see a Psychiatrist he said this could all be Depression. He wants me to take the Neurontin for a month and come Back. Can you tell more about Neurontin i read its for pain and if you take to long you can get whitdrawal. any way the 8th was the first day i took it. do you know how long it takes to start working? if it works on my condition i would be so happy then i could stop the Vics.Today i woke up and was stil burning.. and also he gave celexa 40mg well i just wanted to keep you up to date BUDDY Get back to me Thanks

You will definitely have w/d from Gabapentin if you use it in high doses over a long period of time and then abruptly stop. I would give what the dr is saying a shot and see if it helps as your dose is not that high and he is talking about doing it until he can see if it helps. The celexa added could cause the brain zaps, not necessarily but it's certainly a possibility. That is why I previously advised you to see a specialist.

I still think you should see a Neurologist like I advised previously. PCPs are good drs for every day things. I think the world of mine. But if he doesn't know all the facts about a particular problem he will send me to someone who does without a second thought. Just a word from experience. God bless.

Typically the dr will slowly increase your gabapentin dose and that is what I want to see you stay on top of. They titrate up the dose until you get to where they think you need to be. That's why I suggested the Neurologist so you don't get hooked up with some quack who over prescribes meds to you causing problems. I've seen people start on a few hundred mg and before you know it they are well up over a thousand mg or more. It happens all the time, it happened to me years ago when it was just neurontin. Then it's w/d time when you stop for most people. Not an opiate w/d, but your body still goes through lots of changes. Get to that dr asap! Keep me posted. God bless.

You're the customer. Tell the dr you want to see the neurologist or go to a different dr. He works for you. Keep me posted. You shouldn't be burning like that from the gabapentin. Talk soon. God bless.

Robert How are you doing hope you had a nice Holiday. Any way i went to the neurologist yesterday finaly and he gave me some kind of test where he put some electric probes on my legs. and watching a monitor after the test he told me that i had low oxygen in my nerves and some nerve damage. Caused from Smoking. And he uped the Gabapentin to 300mg 3x a day.And added cymbalta 30mg along with celexa. i still feel the same i get some relief from the gab. and last month my regular doc i asked him for valium instead of xanax it seems to calm the nerves down better but im still burning. The neurologist wants me to quit smoking thats the hardest thing for me to do quit smoking but i have to try. im still taking 3-4 vicodine I have another appointment by a differnt neurologist in a big hospital here in downtown Detroit well thats whats going on for now what do you think? hope to hear from you soon

I can't disagree with the smoking issue, especially with reduced oxygen levels in your system. Smoke constricts blood vessels making it more dangerous. Quitting smoking will change your life. In less than five years your lungs are like you never smoked before. Keep me posted. God bless.
