Hair Drug Test - HELP!!!

Last December/November, I took adderall from an old prescription of mine which dates back to 2006. I took it for about three weeks and ended use around the middle of December (2009).

Currently (April 2010), I have to take a hair drug test for my current employer and I am wondering if I should be worried about failing the hair drug test? (Its been over 120 days).

I do not want to disclose the fact that I have ADD and that I took Adderall from an old prescription, which dates back 2006. (It look suspicious... I know but I only take as needed). Should I go ahead and notify them instead.

My hair currently is very short (I always keep it short <1.5 inches) and I have had 4 haircuts since the time I took adderall...

hmmm yeah I wouldn't go shaving my head, it may look suspicious
why are you so afraid of them finding out you have ADD? Would that not be discrimination on their part? are they even allowed to ask you such questions? it's a legal substance, and furthermore, it was prescribed to you. Unless you have high levels of it in your body as of now (and I'm assuming 120days you probably don't) you probably don't have much to worry about? Do they even check for legal drugs? I always thought they checked for illegal substances..but on the other hand I have heard of them checking for high levels of legal substances too. I don't know. I'm not an expert though, maybe someone else will have some better advice.

They normally check hair follicles which can show what you've put in your system for the last six months or longer. And if one shaves their hair, body hair included, it's normally taken as an automatic failure to comply. It is pretty tough, almost impossible, to beat a follicle test. When all else fails it's a good policy to use honesty. Good luck and God bless.

Just notify them. Tell the truth, you will be ok. Just explain that you take it periodically. Don't wait to see if it shows up or not. Come clean before that. I am sure everything will be ok. Let us know what happens. Good luck!!

Thank you for your help. I agree with your advise and I think its best to fully disclose upfront. I think it would look worse if it came back positive and then I had to explain myself rather than disclosing first and telling them that i take it as needed and thats why the prescription is out of date.

If they ask me for an updated precripting, I dont think it would be a problem getting a hold of the doctor and renewing it since I have already been confirmed ADD by him.
