Default Got into the pain center finally! woot! Oxycontin still a NO.

Hi folks, just wanted to give ya`ll an update, first of all, I have been off my oxycontin for almost 5 months now, if my dates are correct. its been a chore, but I am taking 1800mgs of Gabapentin a day, which seems to help with my nerv pain somewhat. - also, I finally got into the "pain center" here, which usually takes about 2-3 yrs to get into, due to the huge waiting list. and what they do, is help you manage your pain, both thru medication if ness, and thru rehabilatation, and group worksops.
I went to the orentation today, and I have to say that what they have to offer, I think is going to be a godsend. Alot of ppl`s pain effects what they do everyday, and it is hard to "plan ahead" from one day to the next, as sometimes we may not know how we are going to feel the next day etc, so it can make it hard for us. the clinic, seems to have the access to show how to get thru these things, and be able to self treat so to speak our pain.
Look into this in your area, it may help you. and as far as those fighting your demons, I am still fighting mine with Oxycontin, and I still on some bad days, often say, "whats 1 80 going to do"? well, it would set me right back on the road again, so I push on. Anything I can help you with or you need to talk, feel free to contact me, and this site mainly is what helps me thru, so keep posting, and asking, and living!
    Love you all..

    mark .

    Default Hi Mark

Good to hear from you again. You've come SO far in such a short time. We both remember a few months back when you were tripping your butt off on this forum with those oxy.

I love to see people like you come back here and share good stories about actually doing something constructive to help with your pain. Not just complaining about hurting and relapsing and all the other stuff that is so typical. Don't get me wrong. I relapsed too so I am not judging anyone .. you know me. But doing things like you are doing is so positive in comparison to taking pain meds.

Once we get off the pain meds we have got to deal with the pain if it was a legitimate matter of hurting. I know you will find the answer that will help keep you clean. It's relatively easy to get clean but it takes some focus and some effort to stay that way. Thanks for sharing. Good luck and God bless.

Quick question about the neurotnin (gabapentin). I was prescribed it by my regular dr for peroneal nerve problem. My surgeon told me repeatedly not to bother taking it as it wouldn't do any good. I asked three times about it. Do you find it helps? I read pros and cons about this drug. My surgery went really well, however sadly, I seem to be developing the same problem in my other leg. Do you have any side effects? How exactly do you think it helps with your nerve pain? Thanks.
