Default GOD why is it so hard to get clean of opiates

i wish there was something i could do so bad to just get me thru this.
i was clean for right at six days and i cracked and the last two days i was back to taking percocet again. This morning i got rid of the rest of them i had tho and havent taking any again since last night but i do this to myself and i just cant understand why i have to go back to them. I am a very strong person and this is the only thing in my life i have ever had a problem beating but i will oh yes i know i will because i know i can.

"its not about being strong, its about being smart." (<-from an out patient rehab work book)best thing you can do is avoid triggers (places/activities/people you associate with using). which means delete anyone you know that uses from your phone.

I agree with avoiding people, places and things associated with getting high. But there is not a lot of merit in saying that "means delete anyone you know that uses from your phone." Somethings that are written in recovery books are a crock .... NOT TO BE ARGUMENTATIVE.

I've been clean for eight years and I can still rattle off phone numbers from old drug dealers I knew from two decades ago. And LOTS of the people in my phone ended up being a huge part of my recovery and ultimately leading me to Christ. Some of those people happened to change too and are some of my best friends today.

Deleting phone numbers is hardly going to play much of a part in someone getting clean if they were a real addict like I was. It's all about changing ourselves, not worrying about other people. God bless.

in my opinion it would just make things easier since there would be no way to get them short of going up to people and asking. also could keep someone from replacing addictions by avoiding friends who use somthing else. atleast for a while while you detox and have probably a month or two under your belt (this amount of time should alow some time to reflect on what drugs did to you and the pain of a w/d) then again i havn't done anything with addicts but next semester im taking a treatment:alcohol and drugs class. cant wait for that. (also robert have you gotten the person you were talking about who could possibly help answer my problem/questions?)

I apologize but I remember telling you I would get in contact with a particular person for you. I even remember who it was that I was going to contact. But I don't remember your question. Sorry, I'm usually on top of these things and don't forget. Could you refresh my memory with the question and I'll follow up for you by tomorrow. Person is out of town over this weekend. God bless.
