    Default Getting off opiates...advice?

Hello, I am new to this website, and have been reading a lot of threads realted to my situation. I am a 32 year old mom of 3 boys, married and addicted to opiates. I have been taking them some prescribed some not for 6 years for fibro. I have been up and down on dosages for a long time. As of 2 weeks ago I was on Oxy 20mg bid.( swallowed whole not abused) and a whole lot of norco 10/325.(up to 50 ,yes 50) a day. As of today I am off the Oxy's completly and down to 175mg hydro a day. I want to be off the hydro. I have my mother coming for 4 days to stay with me(she knows everything) and is a drug detox nurse. We have read the Thomas recipe and can get most of the drugs needed. I will taper to 8 a day starting 2morrow. Questions: does anyone have any advice for fast heartrate, high bp's. I dont want to go inpatient but will go to er of possible. Will subs help with heartrate, Bp's? I dont want to take them but have 7 if needed. I also have acsess to my Oxy rx as it wasnt taken away just want to get off. Any advice would be appreciated THANKS!

fibrogirl .... Welcome to the forum. Congratulations for wanting to end your addiction. You have come to the right place.

I cannot give you any advice for your heart rate and blood pressure concerns. Those questions would be best answered by a doctor which I am not. With that said I can tell you that I do have a fast heart rate along with BP problems and the Suboxone did not help me in either case.

What Subs will help with is getting you clean . They are a great tool to use. I abused opiates for 35 years and they got me clean. They cannot be used together with other narcotics. They must be used by themselves or not at all. If used together you are asking for a world of hurt.

You have 3 choices as I see it. You can go "cold turkey" and stop everything. You can taper off the Hydro as you say you will start doing tomorrow. Or you can use the Suboxone/Subutex. I would take the Oxy and flush them if you are serious about getting clean.

Tapering could be successful for you, but we have one gentleman here that is down to just one pill and having trouble tapering off. I am a firm believer that if you do decide to use the Hydro to taper, the relapse rate is very high due to the fact that you will always have some around and it's just too easy and tempting to use more than you say you will. But it most definately can be done.

I am a fan of the Subs. They are extremely powerful and can be used in very small doses. They also help with the "craving" of opiates. In my case the Sub completely eliminated the desire for more narcotics.

The choice is yours and please rest assured that whatever you decide to do, you have taken a giant step in posting here your desire to be clean. The people of this forum will help you with any choice you make.

I hope this helps and this is my best advice. Please post again with your intensions. Good luck and God Bless......Denny
