Five Days No Lortab !!!! I like many others have been following different threads for quite a while on this site. The level of support, communication and compassion is AMAZING!!
Anyway,
Originally prescribed Norco / Lortab for Post Traumatic Injury to my ankle. At the highest amount I was taking 12 a day. Started to wean a month ago and since this past Monday none. However, to help relieve the WD's I've taken Tramadol no more than 150mg. per day. I realize that this is a synthetic opiate which leads me to my question..... have I really detoxed at all?? Even with the Tramadol I've felt relatively lousy this week with lack of sleep and RLS being my two biggest problems. In no way do I want to switch one drug for another especially after hearing about all the horrible experiences with this so-called "non-addictive" drug.
Please give me any feedback at all good, bad or ugly... I have to think I'm doing something right given the WD's that I've experienced and still am.
Many Thanks,
Sherm -
yes.... using tramadol will waylay your recovery.... your acute wd after 4 days may be better by now... STOP the tramadol now and see how you feel. I am a believer of weaning but unable to do it myself so there will be others behind me that can help you there.
I do hope you have some type of support system for when you have to live without a drug to make you functional. I could never do it alone and have tried way too many time to do so.. less then sitting in the middle of a large body of water I always went right back to using dope to be happy or at least functioning,

Thanks Sister ! That's what I thought.
If I'm experiencing acute WD's than I am still detoxing from the Lortab ?
Please someone tell me this week hasn't been a complete waste -
NO absoultly not a waist........... hun... are you using a dope today? No waist.
oxyconting has a longer half life then the hydo's so it takes longer to detox. Your receptors are crying for what you have not avail right now... but, they will come back. Your healing. Get thru this.
taking another type of drug that feeds those receptors will just make the detox longer... again, there will be folks here to help you with the detoxing *weaning* as I said this way I was never able to do.
you have to get to the point that you control it all.... you cant. Are you powerless over your addiction to the oxy's?
oops........... srry your not on oxycontin........ so yes, your still in wd. I do beleive the detox of short acting is about 7 days ..... pending how long you have used. When I was younger it was about 7 days... as I got older it took longer to detox. Can you get clonidine to help out? better then yet another drug (tramadol) to feed those receptors and not allow your brain to heal

Your doing great !!! Hi Sherm
I did my detox kinda like you are doing it,I was taking allot of Rx pain meds,
so I quit the stronger ones and then i tapered off, I felt very sick while i was detoxing off of the oxy.was like the worst flu i ever had in my life and then some.LOL,I would jump off the rest of what you are taking If i were you. you may not feel good for a few days ,but you have come so far already,I'm sure you can handle it.then you will not have to have this be a part of your life anymore. please keep us posted on how you are,Melinda -

This girl can give you some advice on weaning.... she did it. But it seem that your way to far in to the detox to began weaning now... Just hang in there.. it does get better. -
Hey Sister !!! Hi Sis
Sure do miss you ! I haven't got to talk to you in awhile.
Have a great day,Melinda -
Thanks for all of your help and kind words........ I know after reading a lot of different posts that my WD's haven't been as bad as some described but..... the sleep thing for me has got to be the worst.
Clonidine won't help because I already take several BP medications and the Dr. said it could cause a bad reaction LOL not like I've had any of those before! -
Hi Sherm
I still have sleep issues.I do take benadryl at night to help me sleep.
Valerian root and melatonin are also a little help.
I think things will go back to normal for you very soon...
please keep posting and let us know how you are doing...
Talk to ya soon, Melinda -
