Default End of methadone treatment

I have a daughter-in-law that has been on methadone treatment program for the last year. Today is her last day and we were wondering how long it takes the methodone to be flushed from your system completely.
She has been on a low dosage for about the last month. At this point I believe she said she was at 1 mg per day.

Any information would be helpful also would like to know what to look for as far as withdrawl systoms if any since my son, her and the twin babies live with me.

Congrats to your daughter in law first.Methadone has a long half life so it tends to stick around for awhile. After 2 weeks it probably won't show up on a drug test but she still may have some withdrawls.Methadone withdrawls can last up to 2 months.I wish her well and hope she has a great life.....Dave

I would like to thank you for your reply. I am extremely concerned about the withdrawl that she might have. Mostly because of the babies, they are 10 months old.

I feel she needs to find some kind of counciling to go to for herself in how to deal with the withdrawl. Is there somewhere on line I could go to to get information on the type of therapy she could or should get

thank you

Hi Wanda: If she's been with a clinic then she should be well prepared if not she should be talking to her doctor. It sounds to me as though they have taken her down slowly and that's the best way to go.If they have done this then she will have virtually no withdrawls.I wouldn't worry to much and I'm sure she knows what to do if a problem arises.Give her the credit she deserves and let her prove to you she's ok.....Dave

Finally my pain is under control!!!!!!!
