Detox from Suboxone, less half mg day/cold Hello,
Im currently on day three of suboxone detox. Just wondering what to suspect. I did the same old with Oxycodone, started oxy two years ago, quit 9 months ago, switched to 12mg suboxone, and have been steadly tapering since.
I was told that you dont want to stay on suboxone longer than 2-3 months, but it took me a while to get down to a comfortable small level, 1-2mg day, then even smaller down to .25 (half of half of half of half of HALF of a 8mg pill) down to .25 in the morning (but without the .25 I would always feel morning withdrawls).
Advice was given to try to do a day on day off method, but I just couldnt bring myself to do that, once I had gone through more than 24 hours without it, I dont even want to start up again.
As to withdrawl I feel.... ok. I feel bearable, whereas oxy and heavier suboxone withdrawl, was unbearable. -
The only thing I am really having trouble with is sleep, I'm getting about 2-4 hours a night, due to back pains, and the once in a while leg restlessness.
Once I wake up in the morning 2 or so hours after, and take tylenol and motrin, it seems to kill the pains.
Im just wondering today is wednesday, I have College classes starting again on next tuesday, -- Am I giving myself enough withdrawl time to be ok again on tuesday?
Just the minor fatigue is killing me and while it is hard, I can still manage to enjoy things (TV, Videogames, sitting in one place more than 15 minutes) and its WAYYYY better than Oxy withdrawl--
I have accually completely detoxed from 80mg cold turkey oxy before, it took about a week, before I was truly feeling myself again- (was dumb enough to go back to the oxy)
I'm just hoping I can break from suboxone this week, and for once live my life again without some sort of opiate replacement theropy.
Any advice welcome -

Any advice welcome The best way to detox off of .25 mg doses is skip a day. Then skip 2 days then skip 3 days.If you have any problems from your stopping at .25 they will appear on the 4th day for you."Tomorrow"..This is due to the long half life of sub.I suggest that you take a .25 mg tomorrow if you feel bad and another sliver in 3 days. This will allow a slower detox and let your body get acclimated. Because of your history of 2 years on oxy and 9 months on sub it will be a couple of months before you start sleeping better.Exercise will help. At least you got yourself down to .25.Good job. That will make this much easier for you.Good luck.MM -

Well, its now the 2nd night (my first day was technically yesterday since I had some, monday morning) and I just got done taking .25mg of suboxone. I felt fine yesterday my first day, but after only a few hours sleep last night, the W/D really started to kick in today. I normally take it in the morning right as I wake, because of morning pains and W/D's. I never skipped a day. Now since I got through the mornings pains yesterday, I found that the pains werent bad at all the first day.
So my plan is, monday morn .25mg, none tues, .25mg at 5pm wednesday (almost day and half, as long as I could handle the W/D's) the .25 completely took away the W/D (chest pain, trouble breathing, lack of appitite, inablity to think properly) then go tomorrow with none, untill atleast friday morning.
So should I start going .25 every other morning? Or should I wait untill this .25mg burns out and go through as much W/D as I can stand then take .25 again?
Should I take it every other morning is what I mean or should I wait the absoulte longest I can, like monday morning, none tuesday, then wait wednesday as long as I can untill like 5pm to 9pm or so, then take so I can sleep..
Will taking days off like this (since now I know I can handle a day without) lower my W/D symptoms? Can this be considered lowering the taper amount? I cant really get the amount any smaller as it can easly be swallowed or lost in spit/saliva, otherwise I would try to take even less per amount.
Any advice wecome please, I really want to know the best way to get off the suboxone without W/D symtoms, since thats the reason I started taking subox was to avoid Oxy w/ds. -
Congrats on your progress thus far.
I was taking 2mg of sub every day for roughly four months. I've been clean for 18 days now.
The withdrawal never got bad like I thought it would. I've been through oxy withdrawals, just like you, and this was NOTHING like that at any point.
I went through a period where I didn't get much sleep which lasted about 6 nights.
There is no way skipping .25 mg in a day is going to make you feel more withdrawals. It's all mental at that point.
Yeah, you're going to feel weak because you're used to taking a pill that gives you energy and mentally going it without that is tough. I had restless legs for about a week, maybe 9 days even, but as you say I could enjoy lots of stuff.
Point is, I personally think you're more than ready to stop taking any sub, period.
I heard from another guy one here that quit that drinking chamomile tea really helped for sleeping. I had mixed results with it but I think it's worth a try.
Hell, I don't see anything wrong with drinking a cup of that tea and taking two Tylenol PM's if you have school and/or other obligations that you feel could cause you to take more sub to feel normal due to lack of sleep.
Based on your dose, and my personal experience, I can't imagine you not feeling top-notch within ten days. You might have a small bit of the runs in the bathroom and miss some sleep, but KEEP REMINDING YOURSELF HOW MUCH WORSE IT WOULD BE IF YOU WERE COMING OFF OF OXY.
I look forward to reading updates from you over the next few days if you're able to post them. -

Since you have been having problems I would suggest .25 every other day for 4 days. Then skip 2 days, then skip 3 days and finally skip 4 days. After the 4 days take one more sliver and quit.If you are still feel w/d after this take a sliver only when you absolutely have to and for no longer than 2 weeks. This should help you a little. during this process you should try to exercise as much as you can. This will help endorphine production whick will make you feel a lot better. Taking days off will lower the amount of suboxone in your system gradually.MM
