detox, need to know some details im dan
it looks like the ******** might finally hit the fan My doctor found a cheap excuse to stop prescribing me percaset. it was actually her mistake. past pain killers include norrrco, fetynal patch, vicodine, methadone 10 mg a day for 3 months, and now percaset at 46.7 milagrams per day. ive been on pain killers for about 8 years straight. at the beginning it was one or 2 vicodine per day, 5mg.
if i go the suboxen method about how long is the whole process till the end where there is no more withdrawls and im off suboxen. about how long is the withdrwal period?
i have alot of health issues, RA, food sensativities, envoronmental illness, and a neck injury
is going cold turkey a better option for me
is there some regulatary board to file a complaint against doctors? -
dan:
Welcome to the forum.
I have no words of wisdom w/ respect to Suboxone - many on here do.
I went c/t - it is tough, but it can be done! Many on here are proof of that.
Do not let the anger you have for your doc cloud your decision/ability to get through your recovery. Focus on getting and staying clean. Many good people on this site to help with some very sound advice.
Post, post often - best of luck in your journey back to freedom.

If you're looking to quit because your supply from your doc has dried up, it may be futile, however if you want to quit, it is definately doable as many on this site have made it through.
Your dose was not really that high so I would say that subutex would be an almost painless way to go, but cold turkey would also work and be quick. I would bet you could be stabilized on 2 to 4mg per day however because everyone is different it would take some trial and error to really know. There are a couple of people on this site that seem to be willing to help those that are willing to help themselves and follow a simple reduction plan that works.
Subutex has a long half life, and whatever you take the first day of induction will exponentially increase the second and third days so try to stabilize on a minimum the first day because that will determine how long you will be on the subs. Also, only do this if you are really ready because after the first failed attempt it gets a little tougher each time after, at least that has been what I have observed.
You didn't say exactly what you took them for, and weather or not you were over medicating so if you have real issues, decide what you will do for pain after you quit the opiates, this is very important! Good luck to you in whatever you decide! -
reply from dan im suffering from rhumitoid arthritis, old neck injury, lower back pain, food sensitivity and chemical sensitivities ( get sick and experience pain, anziety, headaches, low energy,so on ). i dont work, so as long as i dont over do it my pain should be manageable with yoga, messages and tylenal. im not 100% sure on that. from what i hear alot of the pain you experience from opiates is phantom pain
you mentioned subitex, i thought everybody used suboxen for withdrawls. do most people loose weight during this process?
thank you very much for the help -
hi dan subutex has no naloxone in it, that is the only difference between subutex and suboxone.
the naloxone prevents old junkies like me from injecting it. if you do, you get very sick ive been told, and i wont try either!!, but taken under the tongue, the naloxone doesnt get taken up by the body as well,
so its only to stop iv abuse. some doctors give you subutex if iv is not an issue.
good luck with whatever you do
subs dont have the same painkilling properties, but i can tell you for sure i have had 2 decades of opiate abuse, and i am in my 7th week on subs, started on 12mg. and as of today i am on 3mg.
i am really amazed at this drug, i feel way more "normal" and no withdrawls or cravings at all. my little receptors are very happy.
so im dropping slowly, bout a week on each dose. thats a good pace for this kiwi.
good luck dan.

I agree with purple kiwi above, suboxone and subutex the same thing although I think its better to get the subutex if you can. One less drug in your body. However, some docs just will not perscribe subutex. Suboxone cannot be injected so they feel safer. If you go the sub route, just make sure you don't start too high (regardlesso f what the doc says) and do not stay on too long. The longer you stay on the harder to get off, just like any other opiate. If you decide to go c/t, there are many on here who have gone that route who can help.
