Post dealing with anxiety please help

I have been dealing with anxiety for the last 10 months now, doing a little better with this and also talking to someone really helps but the racing heart and high blood pressure along with muscle spasms are really an everyday thing. I take valium 5mg. supposed to take twice a day but scared of addiction because of all the horror stories I have read. I take a half one evryday or maybe every other day and probaly should take two a day as prescribed. Never been addicted to anything before, but im not a pill person thank god, I think i might have anaddicted personality for some reason. Any help much appreciated^^^ thanks and have a blesssed day

Hi ilovejesus
I have had to deal with anxiety in my life also...
I'm like you and don't like to take anything for it...when I did I got addicted to it and it was worse when I got off of the meds...sp I just had to learn how to deal with the anxiety and when I did it went away...
If you need someone to talk to there is always someone on here...
We all love to talk...
Take care and talk to you soon, Melinda

If you are under a doctor's care, you might want to ask about Inderal. It helps with the heart pounding. I used to have anxiety problems through my divorce and I took Wellbutrin and Buspar. I don't take Valium and Xanax type meds, they scare me. I also used to take Valerian root, both during the day and at night. All of that stuff really helped (well, except I never took Inderal but I've researched anxiety in the past and considered it). Good luck.

I have anxiety to and I will have to agree with Melinda on that ...I have been on Benzo for a long time and it doesn't take long to get addicted and are real hard to get off...Plus once you start your body will get use to that dose and then you will need a higher dose's.... Please read the side effects on the w/d on Wellbutin and Buspar...I refused to take them ...I was on Efflexor for a few months and tapered off would get what they call PAWS even months later...try excercise even just walking when you are havin an anxiety attack...
Even the Wellbutin and Buspar will continue to go up in time or they will start you on a rediculious dose.
Hope this helps,
Pam

Default anxiety from i love jesus

thanks to you all and I agree i am scared to take alot. I tried buspirone which is buspar and I would wake up at night two or three times with very bad night sweats(even though i have been on hormone for 20 years probaly my problem) but I do feel better when I get up and get busy, but the racing heart and high blood pressure really scares me. I can hear my heart which my brotherinlaw(my therapist which has been thru this) says its only anxiety. But you know being diagnosed with this 10 months ago its really scary. My blood pressure has always been like 100/60 then I go into anxiety when its high. I am really rambling alot lol signs of anxiety, but bless you all and keep intouch^^^

thanks for responding so soon. I do know that this is a mind game but it is so hard to deal with it. I know my problem is not nowhere close to some but I'm still having to learn , and for some reason the heart pounding throws me in a freenzy. I have external anxiety then I build it to internal anxiety that really throws me in a spin. I know I should exercise and stay busy. I have too much time on my hands and then the worry starts. I would'nt wish this on my worst enemy. if anyone has any more ideas would appreciate any ^^^Will check out the inderal thanks and God bless^^^
