Does anyone know the difference between cytomel and synthroid? My m.d. took me off my synthroid in order for me to have a thryoid and body scan. He put me, however, on cytomel. I am to take it up to three weeks before the scan. I had thyroid cancer 30 years ago and all but a fourth of my thyroid was removed. I have taken radioactive iodine twice since and am having to have another scan done. I will probably have to take the radioactive iodine again. I was just wondering the difference between cytomel and synthroid. I hope someone can help me. THANKS
