Default 7 weeks pregnant, weening off of hydrocodone

I was prescribed hydrocodone a few months ago for a back injury. I was taking between 1-3 5mg pills per day. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I cut down to 1 every other day or so. My plan it to stop taking them completely. I am almost 7 weeks pregnant. I see my Dr. for my first appointment tomorrow.. I haven't gotten to talk to him about this yet..

I have never know anyone in this type of situation and I'm really scared that I have done something to my baby. I didn't know where to go and then I found this website through google.
If I stop taking them, will everything be okay? Could this have caused reproductive harm???
Any replies would be great.

Crystal your baby will be fine, you weren't taking that much to start with, it's really great that you're stopping and of course it's best that you do.
As to teratogenic effects there are no adequate or well-controlled studies to suggest it is teratogenic in pregnant woman, however it is with hamsters, but they dosed them up 700 times the human dose. I do believe hydro is secreted in breast milk.

I finally talked to my Dr..
He said that hydrocodone cannot hurt my baby. However, if I continue taking it during the whole pregnancy- the baby could be born addicted to the medication. that is more likely to happen to people who take A LOT of it. I am taking a small amount and have weaned off it almost completely..
He said that it is excreted through breastmilk- but it metabolizes and it's just trace amounts.
From my understanding, occasional use is fine.. But you don't want to abuse it...

Hi. I am in the SAME situtation and am terrified day and night that I have done something to harm the developement of this child since the 1st trimester is the most critical! I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and am down to 1 pill every other day but at 4-5 weeks I was taking up to four a day! They were 5/500 and that higher amount only lasted about a week but I had been taking some prior to being pregnant as well - for severe back pain and migraines. Anyway - I'm a worrywart by nature anyway but now it's affecting every waking moment - I'm obsessed and terrified that I have negatively affected the developement of this child...a child I wasn't even supposed to be able to conceive! My first and probably only child I'll have! ANY HELP LADIES - I'M FLIPPING OUT!!!!!! Love, rivariva36
