what is the deal?????????? could someone please tell me why vicoden is so addictive....doesn't it make u sleepy????? -
All opiates are addictive even the weaker ones like vicodin...,....Dave -
I should have worded that better. All opiates even the weaker ones like vicodin have the potential to be addictive. It all depends on the person taking them.......Dave -
I am a chronic pain patient and obviously use it for pain. It doesn't make me sleepy, it makes me function close to normal. I think the way it works on me, it takes most of my pain away so I feel like I have more energy. -
Like any other psychoactive that makes you feel great when you're on it, it can also make you feel terrible when you come off of it, so you go grab more and voila....addiction in the making (ok I know, oversimplified but one gets the idea...). That and "weak" is pretty relative... 20mg of hydrocodone would be more pharmacologically active than 60mg of codeine (another opiate/opioid) and definitely more analgesic and "euphoric" than say a gram of acetaminophen. However, the addictiveness and whether or not a person actually will abuse it, that's pretty case by case. -
I take Vicodin "as prescribed" and it doesn't make me sleepy. Some people react differently to meds. A good friend of mine won't take vicodin unless he is going to bed because it knocks him out! My brother, on the other hand, is abusing the drug. He takes it by the handful and get "wired" from it and then he runs out and steals my Mother's percocets to get his fix. She's dying from cancer! Some people like the euphoric feeling they get from this med so much, they don't care if they are stealing from others that need it most. I have to lock my meds up and/or carry them with me, so he doesn't steal mine. I do NOT abuse my meds. In fact, I usually have extras because I take them when I am in pain, not when I want to get "high". Same Family, different outcomes. Take care. -
I take my Vikis for my pain condition as well. I have found one side effect. I do last longer in the sack when I cant feel the goodness as intensely. Take that Viagra!! -
When your addicted on opiates they have the opposite affect kinda, you get buzzed, you feel good therefore your not sleepy. You will sleep well when the pillow calls. The begining of my come down (day1&2 no opiates) I was always tired/fatigue. Of couse you cant sleep your body doesnt stop twitching.
