Default Oxycodone ER vs Oxycontin (diff?)

Is there a difference between these drugs? I've been on many, many pain meds. and was wondering about these? I finally started taking the Oxycontins and am up to 2-80mgs. 4x daily. Gonna have surgery again in 2 weeks so trying to slow down a bit. My life reads like a disaster of tried--didn't work, then tried--didn't work, then tried--didn't work ----for the last 30 years. Got so much wrong it would bore everyone to death. One thing after 27 years of arguing with the pain docs, and surgeons they have finally correctly diagnosed that one of the things I have is PNE ,(Pudendal Nerve Entrapment). It feels as if you are constantly sitting on a knife along with a bunch of horrible things.
Going for surgery for it in 3 weeks. (PS. per docs--- is that you catch it early HA!)It took me blacking out and hitting the floor from an exam for them to believe me!)
Anyway I was wondering about the oxycodone ER and Oxycontin cause I do want off of them eventually and since I saw somewhere they made a 60mg. Oxy ER that would fit into my tapper plan.
Been through a number of withdrawls etc from lots of meds.
Man I hate the day, 30 years ago, when I broke my back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks

Oxycontin and Oxycodone ER are the same thing. Oxy ER is just a generic. To my knowledge there is not a 60mg ER, but you can take 3 20s if you want to get to a 60mg stregnth.

I shattered my back about 6 years ago and am on 80mg twice a day of oxycodone ER (3 on days when I need them) - after the post-op surgery. I have been in every other year, hoping something new is out there that could help the constant pain - my surgeon just xrays and tells me that all the hardware is still attached correctly - How/when did you and/or doctors decide that there WAS something else that could be done? How intense was the pain in the back? I would appreciate any feedback. Anyone I have spoken with who ever had a 'broken back' were people saying that they broke their back years ago - but - full healing, no discomfort now, much less pain or having to walk with a walker or, like me, teaching from a wheel chair for 5 years until last May. Your experience is the first I've been able to 'talk to' that is closer to my experience - even though yours is obviously much more severe. So- any info. would help if you don't mind...........Cursin' ladders

You are replying to a post from someone who posted one time a year ago. Your chances for a reply back from that person is almost nill. I would suggest that you go to either the Featured Conditions or else the Need To Talk categories and post an entirely new thread explaining your problem. Bet you will get some replies there. Good luck and God bless.
