Mycamine (micafungin sodium) for Injection
Approved: March 16, 2005 Company: Fujisawa Healthcare, Inc.
Treatment for: Candida Infections
Mycamine is a member of a new class of antifungal agents, the echinocandins, which inhibit cell-wall synthesis. Mycamine is used for the prophylaxis of Candida infections in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the treatment of esophageal candidiasis.
