I haven't heard of such a thing either, and I did a search on various medical websites, and nothing comes up for it.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~

Cool I think there might be more to this

Ive been wondering as well, if Advil causes hair loss. About the time I started using it is about the time that my hair started to fall out,and now its really noticable, I always had thick hair so maybe thats why it took so long for it to really be noticable. I had hormone tests done and there OK.
Recently my friend told me how her medication was making her hair fall out and it dawned on me, I take a lot of Advil every day maybe thats whats making my hair fall out. Maybe no ones really looked into this and thats why theres not much on it,and now were just starting to realize that this stuff can cause hair problems.
One site I saw said that yes it can make hair fall out but only in rare cases, well maybe its not that rare, and we just never thought that an over the counter pain medicine could cause our hair to fall out. The site said that your hair will grow back in about 2 months after you STOP taking Advil.

There are always exceptions to almost any rule. I don't think anyone would say that it is definitely impossible but I would still think it's very unlikely. Sounds more coincidental to me but if there is a link it's a very rare or unusual one. God bless.

Default Advil and hair loss

Lynhal, My wife has started to have hair coming out in handfuls, she began to dread washing her hair. She went to every specialist in derm. and infections etc. Her blood test showed she was slightly anemic and has had mild thyroid problems. The numerous doctors she went to treated her for her known issues and did a hair biopsy which came back normal. Nothing stopped her hair from falling out, she was devastated and near a breakdown. I began to evaluate her environmental conditions; I could no longer see her crying every night. To cut to the point, I finally began to research, NSAIDS, "she suffers from migraines" and takes slightly more than the recommended dosage almost daily. I began reading stories and blogs of women and men questioning the possibility of Advil and hair loss, I found stories of women taking normal dosages and suffering from hair fallout. I had her quit "cold turkey" so to speak, and Lyn, her hair has stopped falling out for the first time in quite awhile after only two weeks of no Advil. Well, that's where we are right now; hopefully we have found the culprit. "God bless all", let's see what happens. Jaxson

It shouldn't... I mean I have been on both advil and aleve for my joint & back pain and the only hair I have lost is from my anxiety, not the pills.

Bottom line is advil normally doesn't cause hair loss. Probably 90% of all medications don't work for some people and some people have a side effect that isn't common to other people. So because someone has hair loss after taking advil doesn't mean that I will. I've taken advil by the handfuls for decades with no such side effect but that doesn't mean it won't or can't happen to someone else. Everyone reacts a little differently to the same medications. God bless.
