Default Roxicet not working

I was in a car accident two weeks ago and just had an MRI of my neck and lower back. I have 3 ruptured discs in my neck with spinal cord impingement and bulging disc in lower back. The doctor gave me Roxicet to take 1 - 2 every 4 hours and I have been taking 2 every four hours but for some reason I am still in a lot of pain. I used to take hydrocodone for back pain. Do you think I have a tolerance to pain meds? If so, what should I do? Thanks for any feedback.

Jenn

Try taking 2 every 3 hours until you can get the pain under control then roll it back to every 4-6 hours. This is not a strong drug for the injuries that you have.Any chance you can get something stronger like morphine????Dave

I am going to the doctor this Tuesday so I will talk to him. I tried taking 2 q. 3 h. and this is working better. Hopefully he will go along with this or give me something stronger. The pain is unbelievable. I can't get into see the neurosurgeon until March 16, which is crazy. I have to go a whole month like this. I should be good and addicted by then. What I am afraid of is after surgery not having medication work because I have been taking it so long, what do you do in this case?

One day at a time....

I've had chronic pain for 25 years and I'm only 41 years old.I've had numerous lower back and rt knee surgeries.I've been on every narcotic known. The last 3 years I've been on methadone 390mgs/day.Don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting you get on methadone. What I do know is if you take your meds properly and stop them when your supposed to then you have little to worry about.Right now what you need to worry about is getting your pain under control, your already aware of the risks which is good.Take care of your pain first, you'll be ok......Dave
