Default Oral surgeon appointment

Hi everyone,

I'm having 2 wisdom teeth extracted this friday (one requires cutting in order for it to be removed). I have a feeling the surgeon is going to write me a script for percocet or vicodin somewhere in the 5 to 7.5mg range. If he gave me tylenol 3 i could finish the whole bottle before leaving the parking lot. The problem is I have a pretty high tolerance for opiates since I just recovered from a broken ankle that had me on some pretty high dose meds that I often abused. I was thinking of telling the doctor this and recommending that he write me a script for at least 10mg percocet (hopefully a quantity of 15-20). Do you think this would raise suspicion? I mean I can get stronger meds by other means =) but would rather not pay the high price for them. Has anyone had a similar situation and could provide any tips?

Tell him your allergic to codiene, that it leaves you with shortness of breath but you can and have taken oxycodone.Codiene is a useless so called pain killer. All it ends up doing is binding a person up and not relieving their pain....Dave

In reality, he does not know your whole medical and prescription history, so you can just say that you were on some strong meds recently for an injury, so your tolerance is high, and mild stuff will probably not work. In actuality that is the truth for your condition.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~

You probably don't need anything other than ibuprofen after the appointment. OTC works fine, start w/800mg (4 tabs), and stay on it for 3-4 days. Ask the oral surgeon when you go if they think ibuprofen or naproxen (Aleve) will be good enough.
