Exclamation Need Information On a Pain Medication

I had surgery about 10 years ago and my doctor prescribed a red pill called MEPERGAN FORTIS. The medicine really worked wonders, but as my pain went away I stopped taking them and shelved them. Well, yesterday I had a tooth in the back of my mouth removed. I was put to sleep and the dentist said it was broken into flakes up in my gum and that I would probably have pretty severe pain. He prescribed me lorcets, but from past experiences, they don't have any effect on me. What I am wondering is if the MEPERGAN FORTIS that I shelved back in '98 would still be alright to take at the normal dose? Many people have said that medicine doesn't really get "old" per se, so I was just wondering.

I have not taken any of the lorcets because they don't work for me.

I have read that medications do not really have an expiration date, but a date that the drug companies guarantee the medication to be fully potent and safe until. I'm sitting here in pain so if it would be alright for me to take it, please let me know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's safe to take, at the most it will lose some potency. Capsules and antibiotics lose their potency faster then tabs.
