Question How to discontinue Namenda and Exelon?

My 90 year old Mom was put on both Namenda(pills) and Exelon(patch) on October 24, 2008. At the time she was in rehab on medicare. Now that her meds are going thru insurance, her doctor is unable to 'justify' them and they are going to discontinue them.

Does anyone know what the step down (discontinuing) process for each of these medications is?

I am unable to find any information on the internet.

Thank you so much for any assistance you can offer

it doesn't make sense to stop them if the insurance is now paying for them, right?

there is no real need to taper either medication. stopping may just cause some agitation.
