Default help us find a doctor

husband is a 37yr old construction worker with 2 slipped discs and he broke his neck 6yrs ago. His dr of 4+yrs discharged him as a patient for unknown reasons and gave us no referalls for another dr. His pain meds were lortab 10/500mg and methadone 10mg and his dr just cut him off cold turkey. It has been 3 weeks and although there has been no withdrawal( I have experience in the field of opiate withdrawal.)ie:tremors, runny nose, diarrhea, nauseau etc. he is most definantly physically dependant. The pain is unbearable he is not one to complain but this time he is. We cannot find a physician who will prescribe him methadone. he has tried all the other painkillers(oxycontin, vicodin, demerol, ultram, etc.)and methadone works the best for him and has the least side effects. my husband does not abuse his medication and he never has so if someone can help us find a dr in the Tulsa Oklahoma area that prescribes methadone it would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you could call around and ask? My husband goes to a pain clinic, and when the loritab 10's wasnt helping for breakthrough pain, his Dr. put him on methadone 10's twice a day. So try a pain clinic.

have tried pain clinics oklahoma has very strict drug laws and in the bible belt it is hard to find a dr who doesnt treat you like a junkie. I have called and asked around when you ask about methadone people cringe. also very expensive we have no insurance that is one reason he was put on methadone b/c it is cheap. we are at our wits end his back is swelled in the middle and it has a huge purple bruise
that covers his entire back b/c he has to work w/o any pain medicine no one will help not even er they treat you the worst. he cant sleep and he has lost about 15 lbs in the last 2 wks i am very worried thanks for the suggestion

I feel so sorry for him and you. I feel like people with obvious medical reasons with pain should get the relief they need and get what works best. The laws here in ky are very strict too. I thought that was why my husband got methadone instead of oxys. I cant believe his Dr. just dropped him like that. I dont think they're supposed to do that. I wonder if you could report that jerk? Anyways, what else I was thinking would be a methadone clinic. Are there any around you? They are expensive but if you dont have insurance it might just be the same amount you were paying? I hope you guys find something, keep us posted!
