had surgery and had positive drug screen for cocaine, what could have caused this?
please help me understand if the anesthesia could have caused a positive cocaine screening. i had surgery and they used general anesthesia. i also had toradol IM afterward. before surgery they gave me valium IV. there is no explanation for cocaine in my system other than some way my body processed something. please help me to understand, my life is on the line.
Was it nasal surgery? I don't know if they do it so much anymore, but I know in the past they used to use cocaine in nasal surgeries. Its a thought. Did you ask your doctor, surgeon or anesthesiologist? Surely they would be able to tell you and give you something in writing. Good luck.
Have you been around cocaine at all recently? Even if you not doing it the drug can absorb through your skin and get into your blood stream. I don't think anything at the hospital could cause this. They would need to forewarn you by law that this could be possible. Other than that I can't think of anything else that could cause this.....
