Hi Nancy,
Would it be such a big deal if, in fact, she had smoked pot? If you're asking for advice, I'd just assure your daughter (as I'm sure you're doing) that you love her unconditionally, and that if she did smoke pot, it isn't the end of the world. Has she had drug issues in the past..? You say that "our family likes being with her now," which implies that the family hasn't liked being with her in the old days, perhaps when she was doing drugs? I'd like to hear more. Just fill me in; I'm curious. I have two sons, and I think if I learned they ever tried pot, I'd try to approach it even-handedly (don't most teenagers try pot? I know I did), and tell them it probably wasn't the best choice, but that I trusted and respected them, as young adults, to choose wisely. What do you think? Is your daughter a good kid, overall?
