Does anyone know what exactly is ethanol? I hear that its alcohol, but is there anyway to find out what type of alcohol?

Ethanol is THE type of alcohol which we drink in alcoholic beverages. You should look in the organic chemistry textbooks or websites. There are many compounds which are "alcohols", for example, methanol and isopropyl acohol which are poisonous and used for other things than drinking.
