    Default Can pills get old?

    I found perocet and they are made in 1988. Is it ok if i take it? Can pills get old? What happens if you eat them? If you know the answer please let me know!

    Yes, they do get old, however most, including Percocet, just lose effectiveness, so you might need to use more for pain.

    Usually for what it's worth, prescrption medication has a expiration date on the original bottle when filled @ the pharmacy. I would say it is safe to say most pills have a guarenteed "shelf life" of 1 year (if stored properly according to directions included with the medication). Zippygoddess is absolutely correct when informing that once a pill is outdated, it will lose its' effectiveness, causing one to need more to achieve the original effect of say just (1) pill.
